Wallace has gone to victory lane three times at the 2.5-mile track in ARCA competition. Being without a full-time ride right now, the St. Louis-native is making his second Sprint Cup points-race attempt of the year.
The underfunded team has gone to a reduced schedule to concentrate on making races and returning to full-time competition.
Larry Gunselman, team owner: “I am glad Mike Wallace was able to come on board the No. 64 Toyota team this week for Pocono. He’s been around long enough to know what it takes to make these races. Doug (Richert, crew chief) and the guys are looking forward to working with someone of his knowledge and experience.
“If he can help us get better and return to our goals of becoming a full-time team, then all the better. It helps he’s been to victory lane at Pocono a few times in ARCA cars and has a pretty good record in Cup cars, too. Todd and Geoff Bodine have both been very helpful to this point and I hope we can build on what they started with Mike this week.”
Mike Wallace, driver: “Larry and the rest of the Gunselman Motorsports group are a young team trying to find a foundation to build on. They’ve showed up and attempted most of the races, but like a lot of teams starting out they’ve had some rough times.
“As far as I’m concerned, that just makes them hungrier and more determined to make races. I like that in a team. I’m fortunate they’ve given me this opportunity to work with them and looking forward to seeing how we can both help each other out.”

Homestead, FL (November 15, 2008) – After the last two years in the #7 GEICO car, Mike Wallace arrived in Homestead in hopes of ending his run with GEICO on a positive note. He was on track to record his best points finish in his NASCAR career, so he was eager to unload and get to work when practice began on Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Practice found Wallace touring the 1.5-mile facility in sporty fashion. He would sit 17th in the opening practice, however he would drop off a bit in the final session when he rested 19th on the speed charts. Qualifying would only cause frustration, as Wallace would wheel around the track in 33.059 seconds at a rate of speed of 163.344 miles per hour, which was good enough for the 34th starting position.
When race time arrived, Wallace would waste little time charging to the front. When the green flag was displayed for the final time this season, the #7 GEICO Camry immediately began making progress. Within 7 laps, Wallace and the Gecko had penetrated the Top 25, and by Lap 15 they were sitting in the 20th position. As the race began to approach green-flag pit stops, he had moved into the 9th spot on Lap 55 before finding himself in 7th as he traveled down pit road for the first green flag pit stop of the day on Lap 56.
After the Germain Racing pit crew refreshed Wallace’s GEICO Camry with four fresh tires and a tank of a Sunoco racing fuel, he was able to run eight laps under green before the event’s first caution flag was displayed. Fortunately for Wallace, the #7 GEICO Camry was the first car a lap down, allowing him to receive the ‘Lucky Dog award’ and get back on the lead lap.
Lap 76 would find Jeff Burton spinning and connecting with the wall, which would bring out a caution flag and allow Wallace to bring the #7 GEICO Camry down pit road to top off with fuel. After entering the pits in the 17th position, he would restart the race in the 6th position on Lap 82. Unfortunately, he would lose ground quickly and fall to the 11th position before the next caution flag was displayed on Lap 89. Restarting 11th on Lap 94, Wallace and the GEICO Camry would find themselves in the 17th position when the race reached the halfway point at Lap 100.
The back half of the race found Wallace running solidly in the Top 15. Lap 144 would be his final pit stop of the day in which he would take on tires and fuel. Wallace would continue his Top 15 run and then survive a late-race caution on Lap 191. Battling hard during the closing laps, he aimed to score a solid finish and bring home the #7 GEICO Camry in good condition.
Despite a caution-riddled race, Wallace narrowly avoided several crashes and registered an 18th place finish after a solid run in his final outing in the #7 GEICO Camry. Having recorded the best season of his NASCAR career, Wallace rests in the 8th position in the final driver point standings for the 2008 season. Accordingly, Wallace will make his first trip to the NASCAR banquet in Orlando, Florida, on November 22nd.
“I’ve enjoyed my time with GEICO and Sport Clips and I was glad we could end the season with a solid run and a Top 10 points finish,” Wallace said. “I’m looking forward to attending the banquet next week and then enjoying some downtime with my family. It’s been an exciting year and I appreciate the hard work of these guys on the GEICO Racing team.”

Avondale, AZ (November 8, 2008) – Only two races remained on the schedule when Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team arrived at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday morning for practice. More poised than ever, Wallace made his presence felt immediately by landing 6th on the speed charts at the close of the opening practice session.
While the final practice session would find Wallace 23rd, he would qualify for the Hefty Odor Block 200 in the 22nd position and have a good feeling about his #7 GEICO Camry.
Wallace’s hunch was correct, as he would immediately move towards the front of the field. Inside of five laps, Wallace would find himself penetrating the Top 20 before reaching the 14th position by Lap 50. Narrowly avoiding mishaps on the 1-mile tri-oval, he would continue his strategic assault on the field and find himself sitting 13th on Lap 15. Shortly thereafter, he would reside in the 12th position on Lap 155.
As the race began to wind down, Wallace didn’t. He would continue to run solidly in the Top 15 and begin to closely approach the Top 10. He would edge eerily closer on Lap 177 when he secured the 11th position. With a Top 10 finish within reach, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would battle hard against Mike Bliss in the #1 Miccosukee Resorts car during the closing laps. Wallace would lose the battle to Bliss, but pass rookie Joey Logano on the final lap to record a 9th place finish in the Valley of the Sun.
Racking up yet another Top 10 finish, Wallace is excited about the thought of finishing the 2008 season on a good note.
“It’s great to be able to get another Top 10 as the season comes to a close, but we still want that win for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport,” Wallace said. “We’ve had a really good year and it’s bittersweet because we’ve been able to run really well, but the season is almost over. We’re totally focused on getting that win in Homestead next week. This is a great team and we know our capabilities.”
This week, the Germain Racing team packs up the #7 GEICO Camry for the final time and heads to Homestead, Florida, for the 2008 season finale.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Homestead-Miami Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, November 14th, at 1:15 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 6:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 11:35 AM (ET).
The Ford 300 is on Saturday, November 15th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 4:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Fort Worth, TX (November 1, 2008) – With just three races remaining in the 2008 NASCAR season, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team arrived at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend looking to record a solid finish.
The first practice session found Wallace 12th on the speed charts, however the final session was not as accommodating. The #7 GEICO Camry sat 26th when the red flag ended the practice. Qualifying would be of little consolation and Wallace would start the O’Reilly Challenge from the 33rd position.
Wallace must not have liked the view from the rear of the field because when the green flag was displayed he wasted little time moving forward. By the close of the first lap, Wallace had improved five positions and sat 28th. He reached the Top 25 by lap 27, and lap 38 found him wheeling around the track as fast as the race’s leader.
After reaching the Top 20 on lap 47, the event’s first caution flag was displayed just one lap later on lap 48. Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry hit pit road to take on four new tires and a tank of Sunoco racing fuel. The GEICO pit crew would turn out a fast stop and when the race restarted on lap 53 Wallace and the GEICO Camry were riding in the 16th position.
By lap 107, Wallace and the Gecko broke into the Top 15 before experiencing another caution flag on lap 112. The #7 GEICO Camry would once again visit pit road and the GEICO Racing pit crew would do their job quickly and send Wallace back onto the racing surface in good time. When the race once again went green on lap 120, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry were in the 10th position. As the race began to wind down, Wallace was still sitting in the 10th position with 15 laps remaining.
When the checkered flag was displayed, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry recorded a 12th place finish. The Top 15 finish would help Wallace further solidify his 8th position in the point standings with just two races remaining on the schedule.
“It was a good day and the #7 GEICO Camry was fast and allowed us to run up front for most of the afternoon,” Wallace said. “The pit crew did a good job and helped put me in position to stay up front when we pitted.” He continued, “Phoenix is a race track where I have had success, so I am looking forward to getting there next week and doing the best we can to win a race for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads west to Phoenix, Arizona.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Phoenix International Raceway for their opening practice session on Friday, November 7th, at 11:30 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 3:35 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 12:05 PM (ET).
The Hefty Odor Block 200 is on Saturday, November 8th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 4:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace 14th in Memphis; Set for the Lone Star State | | | | October 27, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Millington, TN (October 25, 2008) – On Saturday, the GEICO Racing team returned to the racetrack after a weekend off allowed them to collect themselves. They were looking to take advantage of some much needed rest and record a good finish.
Wallace and the Gecko qualified the #7 GEICO Camry in the 11th position after betraying their slower practice speeds that found them 16th and 26th on the speed charts in their respective sessions.
When the green flag was displayed at Memphis Motorsports Park, Wallace and the Gecko would enjoy the opening lap before the caution flag was displayed at the close of Lap 1. With just a single lap under their belts, the GEICO Racing team would elect to stay on the racetrack and not visit pit road.
Wallace would run solidly in the Top 10 for most of the afternoon before the necessary green flag pit stop on Lap 107. The GEICO Racing team would quickly service the #7 GEICO Camry with four fresh tires and a full tank of Sunoco racing fuel. Re-entering the race in the 27th position, Wallace would immediately begin a full-out assault on the field. By Lap 127, the #7 GEICO Camry made it up to the 17th position before a caution flag waved and sent nearly the entire field two laps down. When the race went back to green, there were just four cars on the lead lap, however Wallace would be relentless.
When the checkered flag was displayed in Memphis, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would record a 14th place finish and, like the rest of the field, never quite recover from the untimely caution flag on Lap 127.
“We had a great car here today for GEICO and Sport Clips, and it’s frustrating because the caution flag really hurt us,” Wallace said. “We fought really hard and I drove as hard as I could, but when most of the field is two laps down it’s hard to recover. We have a great car for Texas though and we’re looking forward to having a great run there. Texas is a special race for us because GEICO has a large regional office in Dallas, and Sport Clips is based in Georgetown, Texas, which is just a few hours down the road.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to the Lone Star State as the season begins to wind down.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Texas Motor Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, October 31st, at 10:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 11:40 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday evening at 6:35 PM (ET).
The O’Reilly Challenge is on Saturday, November 1st, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 3:00 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace and the Gecko net 10th in Charlotte | | | | October 16, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Concord, NC (October 10, 2008) – Mike Wallace arrived at Lowe’s Motor Speedway a week removed from a busy weekend in Talladega where he recorded a Top 5 finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in the #9 GEICO Toyota Tundra.
When the weekend kicked off with practice sessions on Thursday, Wallace wound up 23rd on the charts at the conclusion of the opening practice. Rain would then set in and force the cancellation of the final practice, however NASCAR would permit a shortened session on Friday morning. Twenty-four hours between practices was good for Wallace, as he shot straight to the top of the final practice speed charts and rested 8th when the red flag closed the session.
Qualifying 31st, Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would be forced to battle Mother Nature and narrowly avoid several crashes that would result in 13 caution flags before the evening concluded.
Unfortunately, the race would only go green briefly before rain would cause the red flag to be displayed 8 laps into the Dollar General 300. Once the race re-started at 8:40 PM, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Camry worked their way into the Top 15 by lap 50 before moving into the 7th position just 19 laps later. Unfortunately, the rain would once again set in on Lap 83.
Adding to Wallace’s already exciting evening, he would find himself spinning through the grass on Lap 100. Despite the setback, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would once again move into the 7th position on Lap 123. With eleven laps to go, the #7 GEICO Camry narrowly avoided a crash between teammates Dave Blaney and Jason Leffler. Then to add even more excitement to the late night hours, there would be yet another crash on the re-start of the race with just eight laps remaining that would force Wallace to act quickly and narrowly avoid a sea of crashing cars as they were coming to the green flag.
Finally, when the checkered flag was displayed in the early morning hours, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team would record a 10th place finish, accounting for their 7th Top 10 finish of the 2008 season.
“Lowe’s is a track where I’ve enjoyed a lot of good runs, I was tenth here in May on the white flag lap, but, I was wrecked out coming to take the checkered. That’s kind of been my luck here; Great runs, without the finishes,” Wallace said. “The GEICO Camry was excellent tonight. We had no adjustments on pit road – the car was that good. The GEICO crew did a great job putting the car back together after our trip through the grass and I am really happy we were able to come out of the Dollar General 300 with a top-ten finish.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before heading to Memphis, TN, for the October 25th race at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Talladega, Ala. (10-04-2008) – Mike Wallace ran the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway for the second year in a row for Germain Racing. In Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250 Fueled by Winn Dixie, Wallace steered the #9 GEICO Tundra through 94 tough laps of superspeedway racing to finish fifth.
“The Mountain Dew 250 Fueled by Winn Dixie was a typical plate race with the trucks. Johnny Benson gave me just a little bit of an opening down there to get it three-wide (on the final lap). It always comes down to push, shove, this, that, you know. It was a pretty clean race and I’m happy with bringing this GEICO Tundra home for a fifth place finish,” said Wallace, who last year finished 17th driving the #03 Tundra for Germain Racing at Talladega.
Wallace and his crew, led by Jason Overstreet, were hoping for a winning weekend at Talladega.
“Like anybody, we came to Talladega to win the thing. The GEICO Toyota Tundra ran really well and I have to thank Germain and Toyota for supporting this effort here. So far this weekend at Talladega the Wallace family has a ninth place finish in the ARCA race with Chrissy, a fifth in the Truck Series race and I’m starting sixth for Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race,” said Wallace.
Wallace said he was able to reel in the top-five finish for the GEICO Tundra by taking advantage of a fellow Toyota driver’s championship goals.
“I knew Johnny (Benson Jr.) was points-racing and that is not to disrespect him because he is a great racer. He’s just in a very tight battle, trying to win another Truck Series title for Toyota, so I knew he would be really conservative. There was a split-second when Johnny gave me just enough of an opening and I took it. I watched the replay and I was thought the race finish was pretty cool. The GEICO Tundra looks pretty straight and we finished top-five,” said Wallace.
Wallace competes full-time for Germain Racing in NASCAR’s #2 Series driving the #7 GEICO Toyota Camry. Wallace ranks eighth in the championship points standings in NNS. His next race for Germain Racing is Friday night, October 9th, at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. For more information on how your company can join the Germain Racing lineup, visit www.germainracing.com.

Kansas City, KS (September 27, 2008) – A week removed from a near Top 10 finish in Dover, the #7 GEICO Racing team returned to the race track this weekend in hopes of scoring their first win of the season.
When the Germain Racing team unloaded the #7 GEICO Camry in Kansas on Friday, they were nothing if not consistent, as Wallace and the Gecko sat 22nd and 21st in the respective practice sessions. Qualifying would follow suit when Wallace wheeled around the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval in 32.116 seconds, at a speed of 168.140 miles per hour, putting the #7 GEICO Camry 26th on the starting grid.
When the Kansas Lottery 300 got underway at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, Wallace meant business. On the opening lap, he picked up 2 positions, and by Lap 4 the #7 GEICO Camry was sitting in the 21st position. Prior to his first pit stop on Lap 31, Wallace was running in the 16th position and four Goodyear racing tires and a tank of Sunoco racing fuel would only help his cause. Following a quick pit stop by the Germain Racing pit crew, the #7 GEICO Camry would soon find itself in the 13th position by Lap 78, rapidly approaching the Top 10.
Battling hard to penetrate the Top 10, Wallace would make quick work of Kasey Kahne to secure the 12th position and then set his sights on Jeff Burton and the 11th spot before the caution flag was displayed on Lap 92. When the race went green once again on Lap 96, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry continued their pursuit of the Top 10. By Lap 151, Wallace had moved into 7th position prior to his scheduled green flag pit stop on Lap 152.
On Lap 153, Wallace wished he could have clicked his heels and been anywhere but Kansas. Just one lap after his green flag pit stop, a crash involving Kyle Busch would bring out the caution flag and, consequently, send the #7 GEICO Camry a lap down. Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and David Reutimann would share Wallace’s misery, as they would all be left to fight for the coveted ‘Lucky Dog’ position, which is the first car a lap down. The ‘Lucky Dog’ rule would give them their lap back providing that a caution flag was displayed. With 14 laps to go, Wallace secured the ‘Lucky Dog’ position, however a caution flag would not reappear at the Kansas Lottery 300. Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would be relegated to a 15th place finish despite their superior effort throughout the afternoon.
“This was a tough one to take because we had a great race car and we were positioned to get a Top 5 or Top 10 finish for GEICO and Sport Clips,” Wallace said. “The pit crew did a good job and I worked really hard to get the #7 GEICO Camry to the front of the field, but the late-race caution really put us in a bad position. I did all I could to get back on the lead lap, but we just couldn’t get that last caution that we needed.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before heading just down the road to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, for the October 10th race under the lights.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Nets 12th In Dover; Kansas Up Next | | | | September 22, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Dover, DE (September 20, 2008) – A track where Mike Wallace has traditionally experienced success, Dover provided the opportunity for Wallace and the GEICO Racing team to visit Victory Lane. After all, the spring race in Dover found Wallace in the 8th position when the checkered flag was displayed, so when the #7 GEICO Camry was unloaded on Friday hope was abound.
Practice would find Wallace and the GEICO Racing team being conservative, as the #7 GEICO Camry would sit 16th and 21st in the respective sessions. When practice closed, the GEICO Racing team was poised for qualifying.
The Monster Mile is a challenge for anyone, however Wallace toured the 1-mile facility with relative ease and found himself 19th on the starting grid when qualifying concluded. Wallace wheeled around the high-banked oval in 24.008 seconds, at a rate of speed of 149.950 miles per hour.
With GEICO executives atop the GEICO Racing pit box, Wallace looked to impress when the green flag waved over the field under perfect skies in Dover. The opening laps would find Wallace sliding back a few spots, however it would not last for long, as Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would soon launch an assault on the field.
By lap 51, Wallace had passed nephew Steven Wallace and moved into the Top 15. Appearing sporty on the race track, the #7 GEICO Camry would consistently record lap times faster than the leader as Wallace strategically maneuvered through traffic to get to the front of the field. A caution flag on Lap 70 found Wallace and the Gecko taking their first trip down pit road for four tires and Sunoco racing fuel. The Germain Racing pit crew would turn out a good stop and have Wallace restarting the race in the 13th position on Lap 76.
By Lap 140, Wallace had moved into the 11th position, flirting with the Top 10 before a caution flag was displayed and the #7 GEICO Camry once again visited pit road. The Germain Racing pit crew would once again do their part and have Wallace in the 10th position when the race restarted on Lap 147. Wallace would battle hard with David Stremme, Jamie McMurray, David Ragan and Clint Bowyer as the race began to wind down.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry were running 13th with two laps remaining in the race when Landon Cassill and Steven Wallace collided and caused the caution flag to once again be displayed in Dover. This caution would bring about a green, white, checker finish, and give Wallace the opportunity to score a Top 10 for the GEICO Racing team.
During the restart on Lap 205, Wallace was in the 13th position and would race hard on the final two laps at the Monster Mile to pick up one spot and record a 12th place finish. While a Top 10 eluded him, the solid finish allowed Wallace to further solidify his spot in the 8th position in the point standings.
“We had a great effort this weekend and we had a fast race car, which made it fun to race all day,” Wallace said. “It was nice to have the GEICO executives make the 90-mile trip to Dover from DC and spend the day with us. We had a really competitive car and the GEICO pit crew did a good job of getting me back out on the track quickly. We’re looking forward to getting to Kansas and trying to get a win for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Kansas City, Kansas, where Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team will attempt to score their first win of the season.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Kansas Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, September 26th, at 2:30 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 5:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 10:35 AM (ET).
The Kansas Lottery 300 is on Saturday, September 27th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 3:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Gecko Nets Top 15 After Dodging Hurricane | | | | September 08, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
Richmond, VA (September 7, 2008) – A 1980’s rock group, the Scorpions recorded the hit song, ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’. While they are most likely retired, their song rang true when the #7 GEICO Camry was preparing to race in Richmond on Friday night.
Tropical Storm Hanna was threatening the Richmond area. Consequently, NASCAR made the decision to postpone the Emerson Radio 250 until Sunday evening when the weather would have safely cleared. This was not welcome news to the GEICO Racing team, as they had made their presence felt during the practice session in Richmond.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry got off to a quick start at the Virginia short track. Unlike all other race weeks, Richmond would afford NASCAR’s #2 series just a single practice session. Wallace would waste little time making himself at home. When the red flag closed the practice, the #7 GEICO Camry was sitting 5th on the speed charts. Wallace toured the facility in 21.989 seconds, at a rate of speed of 122.789 miles per hour, which left the GEICO Racing team eagerly anticipating qualifying.
Due to the impending weather and ever-present rain showers, NASCAR canceled qualifying, which meant that the starting line-up would be determined by the Owner’s Points standings. Consequently, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would line up 12th on the starting grid, just ahead of Jason Leffler, who is one position in back of Wallace in the point standings.
Then the bad news came. During the driver meeting at 5:45 PM (ET), Series Director, Joe Balash, announced that due to the impending hurricane that the Emerson Radio 250 was rescheduled for Sunday evening at 7:00 PM (ET).
48 hours later, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry lined up to go racing at Richmond International Raceway. Under clear skies, Wallace raced hard throughout the evening, at times flirting with the Top 10. His persistence would pay off and when the checkered flag was displayed after 250 laps of racing, Wallace and the Gecko would record a 15th place finish at the .75-mile D-shaped oval.
When the points report was distributed after the race, Wallace and the Gecko still rested in the 8th position.
“Our goal is to have solid runs and we’ve been able to do that, which helps us in the point standings,” Wallace said. “We’re going to keep working hard to put this GEICO Camry in Victory Lane before the year is over. We’ll enjoy a much needed weekend off and then head to Dover to try to win a race for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before heading to Dover for the 29th race of the season on September 20th.

| | | | | | Wallace up one spot after So. Cal; Gecko going home | | | | September 02, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Fontana, CA (August 30, 2008) – After leaving Bristol with a wrecked race car, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team were seeking redemption when they arrived in Southern California. Having lost a spot in the point standings, Wallace was looking to score a good finish for the #7 GEICO Camry and continue his pursuit of the Top 5.
When Wallace wrapped up practice in the steamy desert climate of Fontana, he sat 15th and 20th in the respective sessions and was poised for qualifying.
The qualifying session found Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry touring the 2-mile facility in 42.110 seconds, at a rate of speed of 170.981 miles per hour. His two-lap journey would be good for a 26th starting position when the race got underway amidst steamy temperatures.
When the green flag waved under the dusk sky, Wallace and the Gecko would begin to make their way through the field and find themselves in the Top 20 by Lap 38. Wallace would run solidly around the Top 15 and even break into the Top 10 where he ran 7th.
When the checkered flag was displayed, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would record a 16th place finish, improving ten spots from their starting position. With just 8 races remaining in the 2008 season, the solid finish would help Wallace and the Gecko jump a spot in the point standings to 8th.
“We had a solid run tonight and it allowed us to pick up a spot in the point standings,” Wallace said. “We’re looking forward to getting to Richmond this week and seeing all of the GEICO folks that will be at the race. It’s only about 90-miles from their corporate office, so we always look forward to our visit to RIR.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and take the Gecko close to home.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Richmond International Raceway for their sole practice session on Friday, September 5th, at 8:45 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday afternoon at 4:05 PM (ET).

| | | | | | Bristol Takes its Toll on Mike Wallace; Goin' Back to Cali | | | | August 25, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Bristol, TN (August 22, 2008) – Bristol Motor Speedway is known as the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ and it regularly features excitement not typically found on the bigger speedways. While it features old-school type beating and banging, Mike Wallace has experienced past success on the .5-mile high-banked race track.
Sitting 8th in the point standings, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry entered the practice sessions poised to contend for a win. While the first practice session found Wallace in the 27th position, the final practice offered hope, as he rested 21st on the final chart.
Qualifying would be kind to Wallace and the Gecko, as they would roll off the starting grid in the 18th position. Sandwiched between Jason Leffler and Mike Bliss on the parade laps, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry looked to maneuver their way to the front of the field.
Having been granted a reprieve from the hot temperatures that typically are present in Bristol in August, the clear skies and 75-degree temperature filled the 160,000-seat venue. When the green flag waved, the field embarked on a 250-lap quest to survive the Food City 250 with their race cars intact. This quest would last 18 laps before the carnage began and the first caution flag of the evening was displayed. Regardless, the #7 GEICO Camry would persevere through the multiple crashes and run solidly in the Top 20 for the majority of the evening.
As the race began to wind down, Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would fall victim to a late-race crash that would put them behind the wall to make repairs. Once Wallace returned to the track, he would turn just a few laps before being retired for the evening. His misfortune would result in a 35th place finish and, consequently, Wallace would fall to 9th in the point standings.
“This was not what we had in mind when we came to Bristol because I have always ran well here,” Wallace said. “It is unfortunate, but we will move on and take the #7 GEICO Camry to California next week and rebound from this. The GEICO team is resilient and Fontana offers us the opportunity to redeem ourselves.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head West to Fontana, California.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Auto Club Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, August 29th, at 5:00 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 8:30 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday evening at 5:05 PM (ET).
The Camping World RV Service 300 presented by Coleman is on Saturday, August 30th, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 9:45 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

He was hoping to continue the exciting week when he hit the track in the Irish Hills of Michigan.
When the #7 GEICO Camry ended the first practice session, it would sit 22nd on the speed charts. Final practice would find Wallace being fairly consistent, as he would rest in the 25th position when the red flag was displayed. Nothing if not consistent, Wallace would qualify in the 23rd position, just ahead of Bobby Hamilton, Jr.
When the green flag waved under perfect weather conditions, Wallace wasted little time in advancing through the field. Before the conclusion of the opening lap, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry moved up to the 20th position, picking up three positions on his first tour around the 2-mile facility. Wallace’s afternoon would provide a solid performance and the GEICO Camry would run in the Top 15, while at times flirting with the Top 10.
When the checkered flag was displayed after 250-miles of racing, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would record a 15th place finish. Although he still sits 8thin the point standings, Wallace’s Top 15 run moves him within 40 points of NASCAR superstar Kyle Busch, who rests in the 7th position.
“We had a nice solid day for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport,” Wallace said. “We were able to put up a solid run and pick up ground in the point standings. I have typically always fared well in Bristol, so we are looking forward to getting there next week and gaining on the Top 5 in the points.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and prepare for some old school beating and banging as they head to Bristol Motor Speedway, the world’s fastest half-mile race track. After finishing 10th in the April race in Bristol, Wallace and the gecko are looking forward to bettering themselves by nine positions and making their way to Victory Lane.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Bristol Motor Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, August 22nd, at 9:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 10:30 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday evening at 5:05 PM (ET).

| | | | | | Top 20 for Mike Wallace at the Glen; Irish Hills await the Gecko | | | | August 11, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Watkins Glen, NY (August 9, 2008) – After leaving Montreal, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team had seen enough of the rain. Unfortunately, the rain would accompany the team when they arrived at Watkins Glen International for the third and final road course race of the 2008 season.
Set in the Finger Lakes region of New York, Watkins Glen easily competes with the most beautiful race venues in the world. Friday would see the worst of it, as rain would limit NASCAR’s number two series to a single practice session. Wallace rested 25th on the speed charts, just behind Dale Earnhardt, Jr., when the day concluded. The GEICO team eagerly awaited qualifying on Saturday morning, hoping to better their 11th place start the prior week in Montreal.
Qualifying did not go as planned, as Wallace would wind up 30th on the starting grid.
Unfortunately, due to a spin during qualifying, Wallace and the Germain Racing team were forced to put new tires on the #7 GEICO Camry, which NASCAR would rule as an unapproved adjustment and relegate Wallace to the rear of the field for the start of the Zippo 200.
Saturday afternoon was the perfect setting for a race, but the fierce competition that took place on the racetrack would betray the 75-degree temperature, beautiful sky and picturesque background.
If sending the #7 GEICO Camry to the back of the field for the start of the race was supposed to be a challenge, then no one told Wallace. By Lap 16, he had the GEICO Camry in the 23rd position, moving up nearly 20 positions. By Lap 23, he had reached the Top 15 and was moving forward quickly.
Unfortunately, on the Lap 53 restart, Wallace was penalized for allegedly pitting too early, as he had already entered pit road when the caution flag initially waved. Consequently, he was sent to the tail of the longest line, which would find the GEICO Camry in the 31st position.
Wallace would once again launch an assault on the field and when the checkered flag was displayed at the 2.45-mile road course the #7 GEICO Camry recorded an 18th place finish. The solid run keeps Wallace in the 8th position in the point standings.
“We obviously experienced a couple of setbacks, but we fought really hard all day and were able to have a solid run,” Wallace said. “I’ve had fun the last couple of weeks driving the #7 GEICO Camry on the road courses, but now we’ll turn our attention back to ovals this week. As we move on to Michigan, we’re going to continue to work really hard to move GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport up the point standings.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head to the Irish Hills of Michigan.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Michigan International Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, August 15th, at 1:45 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 5:15 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 10:40 AM (ET).

| | | | | | The Gecko Takes A Swin In Montreal; Next Up: The Finger Lakes Region | | | | August 07, 2008 | | | | Montreal, Quebec (August 2, 2008) – In 1989, the hit R&B/Pop group New Edition posed the question ‘Can You Stand the Rain?’ On Saturday, NASCAR’s number two series was forced to answer that question. Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry arrived in Montreal under sunny skies, but race day would present an entirely different scenario.
When practice got underway at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal for the #2 series’ second road course race of the season, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry made their presence felt. Wallace would put the Gecko 9th on the speed charts at the close of the first practice. The final practice would not go as well, as the #7 GEICO Camry sat 21st when the session concluded.
Qualifying would prove to be showtime for Wallace, as he wheeled the #7 GEICO Camry around the 2.71-mile road course fast enough to put him on the Provisional Pole, knocking Carl Edwards out of the position. When the field was set, Wallace would find himself starting 11th as the skies began to darken close to race time.
The NAPA 200 presented by Dodge would get underway under dry conditions, however it would not be long before NASCAR was waving the caution flag due to heavy rain on the race track. For the first time in NASCAR history, a points race would be contended under wet conditions. All teams were permitted three minutes to change to rain tires and add a windshield wiper to the car.
On Lap 17, Wallace would be assessed a penalty for allegedly cutting through a chicane, which would send the #7 GEICO Camry down pit road for a pass-through penalty. After running solidly in the Top 15, Wallace would re-enter the racing surface in the 31st position. He would reappear in the Top 15 by Lap 40, and Lap 43 would find him 10th.
The race circuit would get progressively worse, even to the point where cars were crashing under caution. Lap 48 was the point when NASCAR decided they had seen enough. With 48 of 74 laps completed, they would call the race and the #7 GEICO Camry would record a 15th place finish North of the border.
Wallace was happy to escape Montreal with an intact race car.
“It was certainly interesting and I thought everyone did a good job of being patient and not getting too anxious,” Wallace said. “I think it was getting to a point where some of the drivers were getting antsy and it was about to get real interesting, so NASCAR made a good decision and called it off.”
Wallace continued, “This whole GEICO team did a good job today and we were obviously very competitive, both in qualifying and in the race. We’re 8th in the points and we’re looking forward to getting to Watkins Glen next week and shining once again on another road course. I have a lot to learn about these road courses, but I’m definitely having fun.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Watkins Glen, NY, for their third and final road course race of the season.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Watkins Glen International for their opening practice session on Friday, August 8th, at 1:30 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 5:30 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 10:10 AM (ET).

| | | | | | Wallace Good For 17th In The Circle City; Heading To The Great White North | | | | July 31, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
Indianapolis, IN (July 26, 2008) – Widely regarded as the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis offered Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team the opportunity to pick up spots in the point standings. Indy always sports a packed house and carries the status of being one of the biggest races of the NASCAR season.
The weekend’s two practice sessions would find Wallace sitting 20th and 18th respectively. Qualifying would hold nearly true to the #7 GEICO Camry’s performance in practice, as Wallace would line up 24th on the grid.
Wallace would have to deal with family matters when the green flag dropped, as he would first need to pass his brother Kenny on the way to the front. Pass him he did, and the #7 GEICO Camry would run solidly around the Top 15 for most of the evening. Wallace would eye the Top 10, but eventually settle for a 17th place finish in the Midwest heat.
When the evening closed, Wallace still sat in the 8th position in the point standings.
“We were hoping for a better run here this evening, but it didn’t happen,” Wallace said. “Regardless, the #7 GEICO Camry was able to record a solid finish and we maintained our position in the point standings. We head to Montreal next week for a road course race, so I am looking forward to getting up there because we had a nice showing in Mexico City back in April.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads north of the border to Montreal for the second road course race of the season.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for their opening practice session on Friday, August 1st, at 10:45 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 2:00 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 12:10 PM (ET).
The NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge is on Saturday, August 2nd, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 3:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Pleases The Hometown Crowd; Movin' To The Circle City | | | | July 21, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Madison, IL (July 19, 2008) – Mike Wallace’s race week did not kick off in typical fashion when he returned home to St. Louis this week for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250. Rather than making his first appearance of the weekend at the race track, Wallace was instead tossing out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres baseball game at Busch Stadium.
While Wallace did not trade his driver gloves for a baseball glove, he did fare well with the first pitch of his baseball career. In front of a packed house, Wallace managed to toss the ball to the catcher on the fly and not bounce it in. His good fortune would follow him throughout the race weekend.
During the first practice session, Wallace settled in quite well and had the #7 GEICO Camry sitting 3rd when the session closed. The final practice of the weekend also proved fruitful and Wallace would rest 9th atop the speed charts when the red flag waved.
Qualifying would find Wallace touring the 1.25-mile oval in sweltering heat, however he would persevere. Wallace would wheel around the paperclip-shaped facility in 34.183 seconds, which would be good enough to find him 13th on the grid, starting just in front of Sprint Cup regular David Reutimann.
Prior to the start of the race, a power outage set in, but it would not stop NASCAR’s #2 series, despite the absence of caution lights. NASCAR would start the race under dim lighting and for safety’s sake they scheduled a ‘competition caution’ on Lap 22. Eventually the lights came back on and the racing heated up.
Wallace ran solidly in the Top 15 and narrowly avoided a massive crash on Lap 117 that would result in a red flag that halted the action for almost 25-minutes. At the end of the evening, Wallace would flirt with the Top 10, but not quite make it, as he recorded an 11th place finish in front of his hometown crowd.
Just 300 miles down the road, Wallace’s daughter, Chrissy was behind the wheel at Kentucky Speedway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Piloting Germain Racing’s #03 GEICO Toyota Tundra, she was running well in the 13th position when Jack Sprague ended her evening. Sprague sent Wallace into the wall causing heavy damage to the GEICO Tundra.
After climbing from the #7 GEICO Camry following the race, Wallace was satisfied with the 11th place finish, but he was more happy about the way Chrissy performed in the Truck Series race in Kentucky.
“We had a solid run here this evening and got an 11th place finish which helps us in the points,” Wallace said. “It was fun tonight having GEICO on both my car here at Gateway and Chrissy’s truck in Kentucky. I feel real bad for her because she was doing a great job and running well before she got wrecked. It’s all part of racing, but I find the parent in me coming out in those situations.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Indianapolis, Indiana, where Mike Wallace recorded a win in 1994.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at O’Reilly Raceway Park for their opening practice session on Saturday, July 26th, at 9:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 10:45 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 4:35 PM (ET).
The Kroger 200 is on Saturday night, July 26th, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 7:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Windy City Tough On The Gecko; Wallace Ready To Return Home | | | | July 14, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Joliet, IL (July 11, 2008) – The GEICO Racing team blew into the Windy City hoping to record a top finish that would help them make progress towards the Top 5 in the point standings. Sitting 8th, Mike Wallace would need to finish up front to gain any ground.
The first practice of the weekend would not offer much hope to the GEICO team, as Wallace rested 24th on the speed chart when practice concluded. Due to heavy rain in the Chicago area, the final practice session was canceled, leaving Wallace and the Germain Racing team to guess at the set up as they headed into the meat of their race weekend.
Whatever the Germain Racing team learned about the #7 GEICO Camry in the only practice session of the weekend must have been beneficial because qualifying gave the GEICO team hope. Wallace had an early draw in the 100+ degree heat, but would turn his qualifying laps in 31.145 seconds, which was good for the 17th starting position and a spot just behind Elliott Sadler.
Wallace would lose ground when the green flag waved, however he would rebound quickly and find himself in the Top 15 by Lap 9. Once he entered the Top 15, it was smooth sailing and the #7 GEICO Camry would quickly move to the front of the field, reaching the 3rd position by Lap 55. Wallace would run solidly in the Top 5 before making contact with the wall on Lap 106. Unfortunately, the minor damage from the contact with the wall would hinder the remainder of Wallace’s evening and he would battle hard to secure a 20th place finish when the checkered flag was displayed under the Chicago night sky.
Despite the less than desired result, Wallace and the Gecko still sit in the 8th position in the point standings.
“The #7 GEICO Camry was great tonight and we were in position to win a race, but unfortunately I caught the wall and it severely affected the race car,” Wallace said. “I’m looking forward to taking GEICO and Sport Clips home to St. Louis with me next week and getting them a great finish.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Gateway International Raceway, which is located near Mike Wallace’s hometown of St. Louis, MO.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Gateway International Raceway for their opening practice session on Friday, July 18th, at 7:00 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 8:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 5:05 PM (ET).

| | | | | | The Gecko Takes A Bite Out Of Daytona; Preparing To Blow Into The Windy City | | | | July 07, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Daytona Beach, FL (July 4, 2008) – On the heels of mourning the death of Bob Germain, Sr., the Germain Racing team unloaded the #7 GEICO Camry in Daytona with hopes of reliving the excitement that occurred at the historic speedway on July 2, 2004, when Mike Wallace and the Gecko last visited Victory Lane.
On Thursday afternoon, the opening practice session was promising, as the #7 GEICO Camry sat 9th on the speed charts when it concluded. Unfortunately, due to Mother Nature dropping large amounts of rain on Daytona International Speedway, the final practice session was canceled.
Qualifying took place on Friday afternoon and Wallace would be the sixth car to take to the high-banked 2.5-mile tri-oval. The track temperature during Wallace’s trek around the race track was 148-degrees, however Wallace would show little concern as he toured the facility in 50.199 seconds, at a rate of speed of 179.286 miles per hour. The track temperature would drop significantly as qualifying wore on, however Wallace’s time would stick and he would find himself starting 15th, just ahead of Mike Bliss and Denny Hamlin.
When the green flag was displayed under perfect skies, Wallace immediately found himself running back in the 19th position on Lap 2, however he would rebound quickly and move up to the 12th spot by the time Lap 3 was in the books. Just a single lap later on Lap 4, Wallace put the GEICO Camry in the Top 10 and Lap 15 found the #7 GEICO Camry in the lead.
On the 4th of July, fireworks are abound and Daytona International Speedway was no different, especially on yet another green, white, checker finish. Most race car drivers strive to survive the entire race to get to the final lap. On the contrary, Mike Wallace has had to worry more about the final lap, as on two occasions this season Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry have been taken out on the final lap while preparing to record a Top 10 finish. First Darlington, then Charlotte. Now Wallace can add Daytona to that list.
Coming to the checkered flag out of Turn 4, Wallace was in position to record another Top 10 finish for the GEICO Racing team when nephew Steven Wallace would intervene. The younger Wallace would move up the race track and send his uncle into a 200-mph spin across the infield grass that culminated with the #7 GEICO Camry taking a hard hit into the inside retaining wall.
As Wallace and the GEICO Camry rested just a hundred yards or so from the finish line, they sat with a destroyed race car and a 22nd place finish. Despite the misfortune on the last lap, Wallace and the Gecko still sit in the 8th position in the point standings.
“This was unfortunate plain and simple and it should have been another Top 10 for this GEICO team,” Wallace said. “The black and white car got into me and ended our evening. It was a really hard hit and now we have a destroyed race car and ended up 22nd instead of 8th or 9th.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Chicago, Illinois. The Windy City has been good to Wallace in the past, as he ran strong there in 2004 and led the last eighteen laps before running out of gas on the final lap. With plenty of fuel in tow this year, Wallace and the Gecko are looking forward to getting to Victory Lane.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Chicagoland Speedway for their opening practice session on Thursday, July 10th, at 3:30 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 7:00 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday afternoon at 3:35 PM (ET).
The Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola is on Friday night, July 11th, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 7:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace 15th In New Hamphire; Returning To The Scene Of The WIn This Week | | | | June 30, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Loudon, NH (June 28, 2008) – Sitting 8th in the point standings, Mike Wallace was looking forward to arriving in Loudon, NH, and making up ground on the Top 5.
Things would start out well, as Wallace found himself sitting 4th at the end of the first practice and 12th at the conclusion of the final session. Qualifying would not follow suit, as Wallace would find himself startinG 21st after pacing the 1-mile oval in 30.420 seconds, at a rate of speed of 125.207 MPH.
The Germain Racing team would race with heavy hearts, as team owner Bob Germain’s father passed away at 85 years of age in Naples, Florida, on Friday night.
When the green flag was displayed at the Magic Mile, Wallace and the Gecko would immediately find themselves in danger when Brad Coleman caught their right front fender, causing damage that the GEICO pit crew would work hard to repair. Also, Mother Nature proved that she has a sense of humor when she provideD temperatures in the 80’s on Friday during practice, but on Saturday she provided 64-degrees. This would affect the set up of the race car and Wallace would battle it all afternoon.
While Wallace and the Gecko would run as high as 11th, they ran solidly in the Top 15 for the balance of the afternoon. Consequently, when the checkered flag waved under overcast skies, Wallace would record a 15th place finish. While the finish is not what the GEICO team was hoping for, it still kept Wallace in the 8th position in the point standings.
“We had a good points day, but we were hoping to get another Top 5 for GEICO and Sport Clips,” Wallace said. “It was unfortunate to learn of Bob’s (Germain, team owner) father passing away on Friday night and we are keeping the Germain family in our thoughts and prayers. We will be making the trip to Naples this week to attend services and pay tribute to such a great man.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Daytona Beach, Florida, which is the site of Wallace’s last win. On July 2, 2004, Wallace passed Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Jason Leffler coming out of Turn 4 to hand GEICO and Sport Clips their first NASCAR victories.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Daytona International Speedway for their opening practice session on Thursday, July 3rd at 2:30 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 5:30 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:05 PM (ET).
The Winn-Dixie 250 powered by Coca-Cola is on Friday night, July 4th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | The Gecko Comes Home 18th In Milwaukee While The Racing World Mourns The Death Of A Champion | | | | June 23, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
West Allis, WI (June 21, 2008) – Unfortunately, early in the day on Saturday in Englishtown, NJ, the racing world suffered a devastating blow when NHRA racing legend Scott Kalitta lost his life after a crash during qualifying. It is for this reason that you are going to receive an abbreviated post-race release from the Milwaukee race on Saturday night.
It is with a heavy heart that we at GEICO Racing ask you to take the extra few minutes that you would spend reading the post-race release to say a prayer for Kalitta’s wife, Kathy, and their two sons, Corey and Colin, along with his cousin, Doug, and father, Connie.
* * *
The GEICO Racing team has had a nice run of Top 10’s over the last few weeks and they were looking to add to the total at The Milwaukee Mile, where Mike Wallace has previously visited Victory Lane. After recording a third place finish in Kentucky a week ago, they were hoping to improve two spots and find themselves in Victory Lane.
Wallace and the Gecko would sit 8th at the end of the first practice and 15th at the close of the final practice session. Qualifying would find them 25th, starting just ahead of Bobby Hamilton, Jr.
The #7 GEICO Camry would experience a slight fender bender at the beginning of the race, however they would return to the track on the lead lap and battle hard for positions. Wallace would reach the Top 10 by Lap 90, where he sat in the 9th position, but he would spend the majority of the evening running solidly in the Top 15. By the close of the event, Wallace would rest in the 18th spot when the checkered flag waved over the oldest track in the country.
“We had kind of a tough evening tonight, but fared well in the point standings, so all is not lost,” Wallace said. “Above all though, I would like to ask everyone to keep Scott Kalitta’s family in their thoughts and prayers. He was a champion and a great guy and the racing world as a whole will miss him.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Loudon, NH, for race number 18 of 35.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, June 27th at 10:30 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 1:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 10:05 AM (ET).
The Camping World RV Sales 200 by RVs.com is on Saturday, June 28th, and it will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace 3rd in Bluegrass State; Ready for Milwaukee Short Track | | | | June 16, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
Sparta, KY (June 14, 2008) – Coming off of two consecutive Top 10’s, the GEICO Racing team entered the Bluegrass state looking to extend a run that has them rapidly moving towards the Top 5 in the point standings. Success has become a habit for Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team and the last few weeks have shown that they both expect to win.
While the rain would set in on Friday and prohibit any of the teams from practicing, Mike Wallace capitalized on his spare time and spent extensive time with the media conducting interviews. Once the rain had cleared overnight, the #7 GEICO Camry was afforded a single practice session on Saturday morning to prepare for the Meijer 300. Wallace and the Gecko would maximize their time and wind up 12th on the speed charts when practice concluded.
With the #7 GEICO Camry in race set-up, Wallace would qualify 16th and find himself on the starting grid just behind Mike Bliss.
Under perfect skies and in front of a sold out crowd, the green flag waved and Wallace began moving towards the front of the field. The #7 GEICO Camry had moved into the 14th position by Lap 7, 11th by Lap 39, and Lap 52 found the Gecko sitting comfortably in the Top 10. Radio traffic during the race would be limited, as Wallace would have little to complain about since the #7 GEICO Camry seemed to almost effortlessly wheel itself around the race track.
When the race met the halfway point on Lap 100, Wallace and the Gecko were riding in the 8th position and then, just 18 laps later, he would pass Clint Bowyer to secure the 7th position. Ten laps later on Lap 128 Wallace entered the Top 5 and continued his assault on the lead, as he routinely turned laps about a half a second faster than the leader.
Unfortunately, as the race began to wind down, Wallace would suffer a couple setbacks during pit stops and the GEICO Camry would lose 13 positions over two different trips down pit road. Each time, Wallace would show resilience and quickly recover and bounce the #7 GEICO Camry back into the Top 10. After losing 7 positions on the final stop, Wallace would restart the race 12th and have just 34 laps to regain his position with the leaders and chase the win under the lights in Kentucky.
Wallace would exhibit superb composure and talent as he methodically made his way back to the front of the field. By Lap 193, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry were back in the Top 5 and charging forward. Seven laps later, the checkered flag would wave over the Meijer 300 and Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team recorded a 3rd place finish in a hard fought battle that challenged both Wallace and the Germain Racing team.
The 3rd place finish would bump Wallace and the Gecko from 9th position up to 8th in the point standings. Not long ago the Top 5 was a distant thought, however Wallace now sits just 149 points removed from the coveted position.
While the media would repeatedly question Wallace after the race as to the status of the final pit stops that set him back thirteen positions, he would maintain composure and say all the right things.
“It was great to get a Top 5 for GEICO, Sport Clips, and Smith Transport and we’re looking forward to getting to Milwaukee to try and get a win,” Wallace said. “We’re a team and we win as a team and lose as a team, so we’ll work through the pit stop problems and focus on the next race and getting to Victory Lane. We don’t get paid to think about the past, but rather to focus on the future.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for short track racing under the lights. Mike Wallace and the GEICO team are coming off of three consecutive Top 10 finishes that include the Top 5 in Kentucky. Dover began the run with an 8th place finish and then the GEICO team went on to finish 6th in Nashville last week and then 3rd in Kentucky on Saturday night. If this improvement continues it stands to reason that Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team could very well be standing in Victory Lane next week in Milwaukee.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at the Milwaukee Mile for their opening practice session on Saturday, June 21st, at 10:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 11:45 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 5:35 PM (ET).
The Camping World RV Rental 250 is on Saturday, June 21st, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 8:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | The Gecko 6th in Nashville, Off to the Bluegrass State | | | | June 09, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Lebanon, TN (June 7, 2008) – As the 2008 season wears on, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team just keep getting better. Sitting in the middle of a series of good runs over the last few weeks, the GEICO team looked to improve upon past finishes and chase their first win of the season as they descended upon Nashville Superspeedway.
If practice were any indication, the GEICO team would have an exciting race in store for them. The end of the opening practice session found Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry in the 4th position on the speed charts. When the red flag waved over the final practice session, Wallace and the Gecko would drop just one spot to 5th on the final sheet.
Qualifying would also prove fruitful for the persistent Germain Racing team. Wallace would tour the 1.33-mile D-shaped oval in 30.319 seconds, at a rate of speed of 158.277 MPH, which would place him 9th on the grid, providing the GEICO team with their best starting position of the season.
A steamy, hot Tennessee afternoon was the setting for the Federated Auto Parts 300. As temperatures hovered around the 100-degree mark and the afternoon sun beat down on pit road, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team prepared to get busy with recording yet another top finish.
When the green flag was displayed, Wallace immediately dropped two spots to 11th. This, however, would not last long as Wallace would charge back to the front and within a few laps he returned to the Top 10. Lap 58 would find him making a smooth move around NASCAR Sprint Cup star Carl Edwards to secure the 8th position. Just three laps later, Wallace and the Gecko arrived in the Top 5 where they rested before taking command of the race and finding themselves in the lead.
The GEICO pit crew would provide superior support during pit stops and assist in keeping the #7 GEICO Camry up front.
As the evening began to wind down, Wallace found a home in the Top 10 and remained there for the balance of the evening. He would closely flirt with the Top 5, however when the checkered flag waved under cooler skies, Wallace would record his best finish in two years, as he wound up 6th in Music City. The finish would be his 5th Top 10 of the 2008 season.
“We had a great weekend and the results show the progress that we’re making as a race team,” Wallace said. “Everyone’s real positive and we’re all working hard and it’s showing each week. 4th and 5th in practice, qualified 9th and finished 6th. It’s a nice weekend for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport. It’s also a nice weekend for the Germain Racing team because we’re all seeing the hard work payoff. Bruce Cook (crew chief) and the guys are doing a great job and I feel confident that we’ll be back up front in Kentucky next week.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Sparta, Kentucky, which is located just south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mike Wallace and the GEICO team are coming off of two consecutive Top 10’s and they hope to add a win to their resume when they arrive in the Bluegrass State.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Kentucky Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, June 13th, at 5:00 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 6:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 5:10 PM (ET).
The Meijer 300 is on Saturday, June 14th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 8:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace & The Gecko Diggin' Life | | | | June 04, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Concord, NC (June 4, 2008) – As the first half of the NASCAR season begins to wind down, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team find themselves in a good place. The driver is sitting 9th in the point standings and is coming off a string of good runs, which most recently included his 8th place finish at Dover last weekend.
Sure, it would be easy to point out that Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry finished 25th at Darlington and 22nd at Charlotte, however it would not be indicative of his actual performance.
In Darlington, he was sitting in position to record a Top 5 finish before a melee under a green, white, checker finish found the GEICO Camry more resembling a pinball than a race car. Charlotte would be more of the same story. While the finishes were less than desirable, Wallace ran both of those races solidly around the Top 10, even in the Top 5 at Darlington, before disappointment set in on the final laps.
“We’ve worked really hard to run well every week and put ourselves in position to win races, and I feel as though we’ve been successful at that,” Wallace said from his North Carolina home. “This Germain Racing team has worked really hard week in and week out to prepare the #7 GEICO Camry and I think you can see that it’s really paying off. We’re showing what the driver and team can do and we will continue to do it until we’re all standing in Victory Lane.”
These are the words of a driver that has worked hard his entire career to be in a situation with a good team and good cars. Not since he drove in Phoenix for Penske in 2001 and finished 2nd or Daytona last year for James Finch where he finished 4th has he been afforded such great opportunity for success. Wallace appreciates the opportunity and he is enjoying his life right now.
“You know, it’s really been fun this year because outside of the success of our GEICO program, I’ve been able to watch Chrissy (his daughter) begin to have success in her own career, so it’s been a really fun year,” Wallace said. “I’ve enjoyed spending time with my family this season and being able to focus and do a good job for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport. These are special times and I’m enjoying them.”
Wallace’s joy should carry over into Nashville this weekend where he has traditionally ran well.
A year ago at this time, Wallace had recorded zero Top 10’s, while this year he is sitting on four of them.
There’s no stress, no hassles and no worries. There is only the opportunity to keep running well and win races and that’s the way both Wallace and the Gecko like it.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace 8th in Dover; Heading to Music City | | | | June 02, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Dover, DE (May 31, 2008) – Coming off of two rough weeks where top finishes were pulled out from under Mike Wallace when he was wrecked on the final laps at both Darlington and Charlotte, he was looking forward to getting to Dover and putting the bad memories behind him.
Wallace started his race week off by visiting GEICO’s corporate office, which is located just 100-miles from Dover, on Thursday afternoon. He met with GEICO’s top executives and presented them with his driver helmet from the 2007 season and thanked them, as well as GEICO’s 20,000 employees, for their support over the years. After all, Wallace and the Gecko have shared a lot together, including a trip to Victory Lane at Daytona in 2004.
Wallace must have enjoyed his visit to GEICO’s office and whatever they said he must have liked because when he arrived in Dover he wanted to go fast. And he did.
Wallace opened up the race weekend by resting in the 5th position when the initial practice session ended. Wallace wheeled his #7 GEICO Camry around the 1-mile oval in 23.592 seconds, at a rate of speed of 152.594 MPH. The final practice session would also go well, as Wallace and the Gecko sat 11th on the final speed charts.
Qualifying would find Wallace touring the Monster Mile in 23.758 seconds at a speed of 151.528 MPH, which would place him 17th on the starting grid.
While the day started out beautiful, the heavy rain would quickly set in and poor significant amounts of water on the speedway. Consequently, NASCAR’s #2 series would be sidelined for nearly 3 hours before racing would get underway at Dover International Speedway.
When the green flag was finally displayed on Saturday evening, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry wasted no time moving forward. Within a few laps he would find himself in the Top 15 and then proceed on a relentless pursuit of the front of the field.
Lap 75 would find Wallace and the Gecko sitting in the 9th position with an eye on the Top 5. The GEICO team would provide quick support during the pit stops and Wallace would spend the remainder of his day running solidly in the Top 10. When the checkered flag waved in Dover, Wallace and the GEICO team would be scored in the 8th position, allowing them to record their 4th Top 10 finish of the season.
“We had a good run today and we’re glad to bounce back after having two tough races where the GEICO Camry was taken out on the final laps at Darlington and Charlotte,” Wallace said. “We had a consistent weekend and ran well in the practice sessions and the race. The driver probably got a little bit conservative in qualifying, but when the green flag waved we showed how good the GEICO Camry was. I’m happy to record another Top 10 for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
He continued, “This Germain Racing team did a great job and we’re looking forward to getting to Nashville next week. We’ve got a good run going and Nashville is going to give us the opportunity to make up ground in the points chase.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Nashville, Tennessee, where Mike Wallace and the GEICO team will attempt to pick up ground in the point standings, where they currently reside in the 9th position.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Nashville Superspeedway for their opening practice session on Friday, June 6th, at 6:00 PM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 7:45 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3:35 PM (ET).
The Federated Auto Parts 300 presented by Dollar General is on Saturday, June 7th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Robbed Of Top Finish In Charlotte; Gecko Heading To Geico's Backyard | | | | May 27, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Concord, NC (May 24, 2008) - Following a much needed weekend off, the GEICO Racing team would head just a few miles down the road to Lowe's Motor Speedway for a home game of sorts under the lights on Saturday night.
When both practice and qualifying concluded, Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry found themselves starting in the 23rd position when the green flag waved under the Carolina night sky.
Wallace would waste little time moving forward, as he would find himself running in the Top 20 by Lap 26. Unfortunately, a pit stop under caution on Lap 28 would bring bad news for the GEICO team as they were assessed a pit road penalty for a tire violation. The error would send Wallace and the GEICO Camry to the tail end of the longest line, which meant that the Gecko would be restarting the race from the 24th position after battling hard to race inside the Top 20.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would run consistently in the Top 15, and even approach the Top 10, before a green/white/checker finish would once again determine the outcome of the event for the second consecutive race. Wallace was running in the 13th position and preparing to move into the Top 10 when he would once again fall victim to a crash with two laps remaining.
Just two weeks ago in Darlington, Wallace and the GEICO team suffered the same fate under nearly the same circumstances. Unfortunately, Wallace would be forced to record a 22nd place finish instead of the Top 10 they were almost certain to achieve when the checkered flag waved at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
A frustrated Wallace maintained a positive outlook despite the circumstances.
“It's almost the same story as two weeks ago at Darlington and it's a shame for this Germain Racing team, GEICO, Sport Clips, and Smith Transport,” Wallace said. “We worked really hard all night to run up front and put ourselves in position to get a good finish, but it didn't work out. This week we go to Dover, which is close to GEICO's headquarters, so we're looking forward to a great run up there.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Dover, Delaware, as Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team will take on the Monster Mile in a battle that will take place just 100-miles removed from GEICO's corporate office.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Dover International Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, May 30th, at 9:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 1:15 PM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 10:35 AM (ET).
The Heluva Good! 200 is on Saturday, May 31st, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 2:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Left Frustrated at Darlington; Home Game Up Next After Week Off | | | | May 12, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International, Inc.
Darlington, SC (May 9, 2008) – The ‘Track Too Tough To Tame’ entertained Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team over the weekend. The historic Darlington Raceway received a makeover during the off-season and while the racing surface was significantly faster, Wallace and the Gecko would adapt quickly and take the #7 GEICO Camry to the front of the field.
NASCAR’s #2 series was afforded three practice sessions in Darlington, which worked well for Wallace until he found the wall during the final session. After sitting 9th on the opening charts, Wallace would ultimately find himself in the garage with damage to the #7 GEICO Camry.
The Germain Racing team worked feverishly to repair the race car and prepare the GEICO Camry for qualifying. Their work paid dividends, as Wallace would qualify the #7 GEICO Camry in the 25th position after circulating the 1.366-mile race track in 28.661 seconds.
Starting just ahead of nephew Steven Wallace, the Gecko would move forward quickly when the green flag waved under perfect South Carolina skies on Friday night. In the opening laps, Wallace would move from 25th to 20th and then continue his trek to the front of the field.
By Lap 94, Wallace and the GEICO Camry were riding solidly in the 3rd position with their eyes on the leader. After a caution with 40 laps to go, Wallace would restart the race in the 14th position and then approach the Top 10 with 20 laps remaining. As the caution flags continued to wave, Wallace would move forward as the race began to wind down. With 13 laps to go, Wallace and the GEICO Camry were in position to record their first Top 5 of the season when he restarted the race in the 8th position.
Lap 144 would end Wallace’s great run when Mark Martin ran out of gas on the restart with three laps to go and caused cars, one after the other, to crash into each other. Wallace would be left with nowhere to go when he made contact with Mike Bliss and found himself heading for the inside retaining wall. What was going to be a great evening for the GEICO Racing team resulted in only frustration as they watched their Top 5 run end with a crashed race car.
When the checkered flag waved, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry were scored in the 25th position. Even with the misfortune, Wallace and the Gecko remain in the 9th position in the point standings.
A composed Wallace reflected on what was one of the team’s better runs of the 2008 season.
“It’s just unfortunate because this whole GEICO team worked really hard to get this car ready to race and I worked hard on the race track to put us in position to be there at the end,” Wallace said. “We kept the car clean and we were in position to have a great points night and get a Top 5 for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport. Instead, we end up 25th.”
This week, the Germain Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before traveling just a few miles down the road to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, for the May 24th race under the lights.

| | | | | | Lucky 13 For Wallace In Richmond; Newly Paved Darlington Next Up | | | | May 05, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
Richmond, VA (May 2, 2008) – Heading into Richmond sitting 9th in points, Mike Wallace was looking to make up ground on the Top 5 with a good finish on Friday night.
NASCAR’s #2 series would be afforded a single practice session prior to the Lipton Tea 250. Wallace would take advantage of the limited time permitted, and would rest the GEICO Camry 16th on the speed charts when the practice concluded.
Qualifying would not be as promising when Wallace toured the .75-mile facility in 21.962 seconds, at a rate of speed of 122.940 MPH. His speed would be good enough for 18th position when the #7 GEICO Camry lined up to go racing under the lights on Friday night.
Wallace would take the green flag and immediately move forward into the Top 15. Lap 69 would find the #7 GEICO Camry coming down pit road under caution. While Wallace entered the pits running 16th, the GEICO pit crew would turn out a quick pit stop and send Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry back out on the track in the 13th position, picking up three spots under caution.
Wallace would run comfortably in the Top 15 for most of the evening, and Lap 147 would find the GEICO Camry once again visiting pit road under caution, this time running 13th. Having settled into their groove, the GEICO pit crew would once again contribute to the cause by returning the GEICO Camry to the race track in the 12th position, picking a position under caution.
On Lap 171, Wallace would approach the Top 10 and run in the 11th position before recording a 13th place finish under the lights at Richmond International Raceway. The 13th place finish would help Wallace remain in the 9th position in the point standings, but stretch his lead to 120 points over David Stremme in the 10th position. Wallace and the Gecko currently sit just 127 points removed from Mike Bliss in the 5th position.
“It was a good points night for us, but we were hoping to get a win for GEICO in their backyard,” Wallace said. “We’ll head to Darlington next week and hope to continue to make up ground in the points race. Our goal is to finish in the Top 5 in points and win races and we will continue to pursue those things until they happen.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Darlington, South Carolina, for another Friday night race under the lights. This time it will happen on a newly-paved 1.366-mile race track.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Darlington Raceway for their opening practice session on Thursday, May 8th, at 3:00 PM (ET). The series will be afforded two more sessions with the second one beginning at 5:40 PM (ET), and the final practice session at 8:10 PM (ET). Qualifying will be on Saturday afternoon at 3:10 PM (ET).
The Diamond Hill Plywood 200 is on Friday, May 9th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Puts GEICO Up Front In' Dega; Heading To The Gecko's Backyard | | | | April 29, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Lincoln, AL (April 26, 2008) – Mike Wallace is widely regarded as one of the best restrictor plate racers in NASCAR, which is why he looked forward to getting to Talladega. Wallace sent GEICO to Victory Lane at Daytona in 2004, and he was hoping Saturday would find the Gecko once again making the trip to the coveted Winner’s Circle.
Wallace would also be joined by his arch-nemesis, Lauren Wallace, who would ultimately bring out the best in Wallace during Saturday’s Aaron’s 312.
At the end of the opening practice session on Thursday, Wallace would sit 31st on the speed charts. Final practice would pick up quite a bit for the GEICO Racing team, as they made significant improvement from the first practice and rested in the 5th position when the red flag closed the session.
When qualifying concluded Friday afternoon, Wallace and the Gecko would find themselves starting from the 20th position, sandwiched between Scott Wimmer and David Ragan.
When the green flag waved at Talladega Superspeedway, Wallace wasted little time in moving forward, as he picked up 4 spots in just a lap and a half. His assault on the field would only intensify when Wallace moved into the Top 5 and ran in the 4th position on just Lap 9. As the race wore on, the caution flag would wave and allow the GEICO Racing pit crew to shine, when they completed a tremendous pit stop on Lap 64 and returned the #7 GEICO Camry to the race track in the 4th position.
Wallace and the Gecko would narrowly avoid a major crash on Lap 71. While he took a slight hit as he slivered through the colossal crash, it would not be enough to slow the #7 GEICO Camry. Wallace would run in the Top 5 for the majority of the afternoon, and even lead briefly when he overtook Dale Earnhardt, Jr. late in the race.
Following a late-race caution flag that would provide the fans with an exciting green/white/checkers finish, Wallace restarted the race in the 5th position. Wallace jumped out of line with the #7 GEICO Camry in an effort to win the race, however a commitment made from a fellow driver would not be honored and, consequently, Wallace was ‘hung out to dry’. Falling back as far as 17th position on the final lap, Wallace would hustle back to the front and record a 10th place finish.
“A Top 10 finish is great, but we had a car to win the race and we put ourselves in position to win, but unfortunately we got hung out to dry there on the final lap,” Wallace said. “We picked up some ground in the point standings and we also got great coverage for GEICO and Sport Clips. It was a fun race and we were lucky enough to barely miss the big crash.”
He continued, “This week will be special because we head to Richmond which sits only about 90 miles from GEICO’s corporate office. We always have a lot of GEICO guests in Richmond, so we’re hoping to take them to Victory Lane with us.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Richmond, Virginia, for a Friday night short track battle. Richmond International Raceway provides the Gecko a chance to visit home, as the ¾-mile race track sits less than a hundred miles removed from GEICO’s corporate office.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Richmond International Raceway for their sole practice session on Friday, May 2nd, at 8:45 AM (ET), while qualifying will follow at 4:05 PM (ET)
The Lipton Tea 250 is on Friday, May 2nd, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Gecko Finishes 12th South of the Border; Wallace Ready for Restrictor Plate Racing | | | | April 21, 2008 | | | |
Player Management International Media Release
Mexico City, Mexico (April 20, 2008) – Mike Wallace and the Gecko spent their weekend South of the border in Mexico City, Mexico, making the trip for NASCAR’s first road course race of the 2008 season. Haunted by memories of a year ago when Wallace was assured a Top 10 finish until another car ran into him with 9 laps remaining, he was looking to return to Mexico City and secure a top finish for the #7 GEICO team.
Practice would be a struggle for Wallace, as he sat 26th on the speed charts at the end of the 1st practice, and 27th at the end of the final practice. Regardless of the posted practice speeds, Wallace and the GEICO team felt as though they had a competitive race car that would run up front.
Qualifying would prove their point, as Wallace would tour the 2.5-mile road course in 89.561 seconds, at a rate of speed of 101.214 MPH. When the #7 GEICO Camry lined up for the start of the race, it would sit just ahead of road course ace Michel Jourdain in the 19th position.
When the green flag waved at Autodromo Hermano Rodriguez, Wallace would immediately lose positions, however it would not last long. Wallace would spend little time in the back of the field before making a charge to the front where he would reside for the remainder of the afternoon.
On Lap 10, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry moved into the Top 10 before undertaking a green flag pit stop to take on tires and fuel. Consequently, the #7 GEICO Camry would find itself at the rear of the field awaiting the pit stops to cycle through. Once the entire field had visited pit road and had their necessary green flag pit stops, Wallace would once again begin his journey to the front.
The #7 GEICO Camry would move at a torrid pace and Lap 49 would find Wallace once again in the Top 10, running in the 10th position. It became smooth sailing for Wallace and the Gecko when only two laps later they found themselves in the 8th position. Despite a bevy of caution flags, Wallace and the GEICO Camry would remain consistent, and on Lap 58 moved into the Top 5.
As the race began to wind down, Wallace found himself outside of the Top 10, but still at the front of the field in the #7 GEICO Camry. On the final laps, Wallace and the Gecko would withstand a series of taps to the rear bumper by Max Papis’s heavily battered race car and go on to record a 12th place finish in the first of three road course races of the season.
“We were able to go out and run really well today and get a decent finish down here,” Wallace said. “It was a fun race and it was nice to be able to have the #7 GEICO Camry running up front and competing with the best road course racers in the business. Max Papis and I battled hard during the final laps and I appreciate him not turning me around when he probably could have.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads to Talladega, Alabama, for their second restrictor plate race of the 2008 season. Mike Wallace is well known as a restrictor plate specialist and he looks forward to arriving at the 2.66-mile high-banked race track.
“I’ve always experienced great success at restrictor plate tracks and I look forward to getting to Talladega and putting the #7 GEICO Camry up front all weekend,” Wallace said. “We’ve worked really hard on our cars and I am sure it will pay off and we’ll have a good chance of putting GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport in Victory Lane. Talladega is always a fun atmosphere, so we’re going with the notion of having fun and running up front.”
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Talladega Superspeedway for their first practice on Thursday, April 24th, at 4:00 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Thursday at 6:00 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Friday afternoon at 5:05 PM (ET).
The Aaron’s 312 is on Saturday, April 26th, and it will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Nets Top 15 In Phoenix; Gecko Heading South Of The Border | | | | April 14, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Avondale, AZ (April 11, 2008) – The Valley of the Sun would give the GEICO Racing team the opportunity to have a good run and assist in their assault on the Top 5 in the point standings. A track where Wallace has experienced past success, Phoenix was the perfect place for the #7 GEICO Camry to re-visit Victory Lane.
Weather conditions would provide an excellent race weekend and the GEICO Racing team would take advantage of having two full practices. During the opening practice session, the GEICO Camry would sit 16th on the speed charts when it concluded. Between practices, the GEICO Racing team would make adjustments to the car in order to find the speed they were looking for. The final practice session would find Wallace and the Gecko just slightly slower, and they would rest in the 24th spot when the red flag closed the final practice.
The final practice session must have been indicative of the race car’s speed, because when qualifying concluded on Friday afternoon, Wallace would find himself starting from the 24th position. He toured the facility in 27.965 seconds, at a rate of speed of 128.732 MPH.
A lot of fans consider night races to be the best races. Night races provide the unique opportunity for fans to see the race go green under sunny skies, but watch the checkered flag wave under the night sky. Combine this with perfect weather conditions and you have the perfect setting that was present at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday evening.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would take the green flag and move immediately backwards, falling to the 28th position. It would not be long, however, until Wallace would start heading towards the front of the field. During the pit stops, the GEICO team would make the necessary adjustments to the #7 GEICO Camry, while also helping Wallace pick up positions on pit road.
The Gecko would run solidly in the Top 15, and even visit the Top 10, before recording a 15th place finish under perfect skies in Phoenix.
“We really wanted to run better, but 15th will keep us in the hunt in the point standings,” Wallace said. “We go to Mexico City next week and last year I would’ve had a Top 10 there if I didn’t get caught up in a wreck with a few laps to go. This GEICO team is working hard and we’re going to continue to fight each week to get to Victory Lane.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads south of the border to Mexico City, Mexico, for NASCAR’S first road course race of the 2008 season.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for their first practice on Friday, April 19th, at 2:00 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 4:05 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 11:35 AM (ET).
The Corona 200 is on Sunday, April 20th, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 1:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace & Gecko Have Tough Day in Texas; Looking for Redemption in Phoenix | | | | April 07, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Justin, TX (April 5, 2008) – Mike Wallace arrived in Texas with his #7 GEICO Camry to make his 600th career NASCAR start; a milestone achieved by few. While he had reached a significant plateau in his career, Wallace was more concerned with having a good run for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.
Practice would be limited to a single session due to the rain in the Fort Worth area. At the end of that session, Wallace and the Gecko would sit 19th on the speed charts. Qualifying would also be rained out, and the #7 GEICO Camry would find itself starting from the 13th position, as the line up was determined by the Owner Points standings.
Starting 13th, Wallace would exhibit patience when the green flag waved at Texas Motor Speedway. Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would run solidly in the Top 15, and even make an appearance in the Top 10, before a mid-race issue would set the GEICO team back. Loose lugnuts would force the GEICO Camry down pit road under the green flag, which would cause the GEICO team to lose valuable time. They would go three laps down by the time Wallace returned to the race track. Unfortunately, such a tough setback would leave Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry unable to recover and they would record a 25th place finish in the Lone Star State.
While Wallace was celebrating his 600th career NASCAR start under beautiful skies and perfect weather, it would not be enough to help Wallace and the GEICO team make up any ground on the Top 5. While Wallace would drop to 11th in the point standings, he sits just 94 points removed from Kyle Busch in the 5th position.
“This obviously is not the desired result, nor is it acceptable,” Wallace said. “We are working hard as a team and we are looking forward to getting to Phoenix next week so we can redeem ourselves. Phoenix is a track where I have experienced success and I’m looking forward to getting there and putting the GEICO Camry up front. We’ve proven that we can run well and even though we had a bad week it is not going to affect the big picture.”
This week, the Germain Racing team heads back out west to Phoenix, AZ, for the Bashas 300.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Phoenix International Raceway for their first practice on Thursday, April 10th, at 1:15 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Thursday at 8:45 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Friday afternoon at 5:05 PM (ET).
The Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 is on Friday, April 11th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 9:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Reaches Milestone In The Lone Star State | | | | April 04, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Justin, TX (April 3, 2008) – Some would say that Mike Wallace is an old school racer, and they would be right. When Wallace and his #7 GEICO Camry roll off of the starting grid on Saturday afternoon, he will be making his 600th career NASCAR start. There is something to be said for longevity and since his debut in NASCAR in 1991 he has logged 60,000 miles, while also recording $5.2 million dollars in earnings in NASCAR’s number 2 series.
In 2008, Wallace and the GEICO team have experienced reasonable success, having recorded Top 10’s at both Las Vegas and Bristol. The Germain Racing team is after something much more however. A win is what the #7 GEICO team is seeking and they will work feverishly until they get it. They came close at Las Vegas and put themselves in position in Bristol, however they have yet to visit the ever so coveted Victory Lane.
This weekend would be perfect timing, as both team and driver could celebrate together in the Lone Star state. There is not a better way to celebrate a 600th start then to do it in Victory Lane.
Wallace didn’t realize he had approached such an exclusive milestone, but was excited at the thought of having such a long, successful career.
“It’s obviously very exciting to realize that you have experienced longevity in this sport because it seems so tough to last, so I think it says a lot about my persistence and determination,” Wallace said. “I’ve worked with a lot of great teams and crew members along the way and it’s because of those guys that I have been able to keep racing and keep competing each week. The exciting thing is that a lot of these races have been spent with GEICO, so I think it’s only appropriate that I celebrate this milestone with them. Sport Clips is based in Texas, so it is exciting to have them with me on such a special weekend as well.”
This week, the Germain Racing team is at Texas Motor Speedway. Along with it being Mike Wallace’s 600th career start, Texas is also special because Sport Clips is based just a couple of hours down the road in Georgetown, TX.
The O’Reilly 300 is on Saturday, April 5th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 2:30 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Family & Gecko Enjoy Exciting Week | | | | March 31, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Concord, NC (March 31, 2008) – Little did Mike Wallace know that when he recorded the fastest time at the Richmond NASCAR test a week ago that it would be just the beginning of an exciting week for both his family and his sponsor.
A week ago, Wallace and the Gecko would travel with the GEICO Racing team up to Richmond International Raceway for their final test prior to their May 2nd race at the .75-mile D-shaped oval. Wallace would waste little time getting acclimated to the track and by the end of the evening he rested at the top of the speed charts, having recorded the fastest time of the day.
In the Wallace household, racing is a family affair. Mike Wallace is the middle brother of the racing Wallace’s that includes older brother Rusty and younger brother Kenny. Now throw Mike’s daughter Chrissy into the mix; and let’s do it at Martinsville, well known to be one of the toughest tracks on the NASCAR circuit. A half-mile track, Martinsville is known for its beating and banging, which makes it one of the worst places to make a NASCAR debut.
After media coverage that resembled a big budget ad campaign, Chrissy Wallace arrived at Martinsville Speedway this weekend with GEICO on the hood of her #03 Toyota Tundra to make her NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut. Ironically, Martinsville is also where her father made his NASCAR debut in 1990.
Widely regarded as arguably the best female driver to ever enter the series, Chrissy exhibited composure typically reserved for well-seasoned veterans, such as her father and her uncles. With dad as her spotter, she would start the race in the 35th position and carefully move her #03 GEICO/Mobile Delvac Oils Tundra to the front of the field. She would ultimately overcome many obstacles before finishing on the Lead Lap in the 18th position in her first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.
Simply finishing a race in Martinsville is an accomplishment; finishing on the Lead Lap in 18th in your first NASCAR race is a statement. Wallace proved that she is a racer and that she can do it in NASCAR’s top three.
Last week was also exciting for GEICO. While the GEICO drivers were out tearing up the speed charts, the GEICO marketing team launched another assault on the internet, as they released yet another GEICO Racing commercial featuring third cousin, once removed, Lauren Wallace. Unlike other GEICO Racing commercials, this commercial is part of an internet marketing campaign to promote geicogarage.com, GEICO’s new innovative, interactive web site.
geicogarage.com, a web site that is one of the most innovative, interactive sites in all of auto racing, takes race fans inside the world of GEICO Racing and provides an in-depth, interactive look at the world of the #7 GEICO Racing team.
The new internet ad features Lauren Wallace, alongside Mike Wallace, Paul Tracy, Tommy Kendall and Max Papis in a setting closely resembling a weekend at the race track. The ad can be viewed by visiting www.geicoracing7.com .

| | | | | | Wallace & The Gecko Net A Top 20 in Music City; Testing Richmond This Week | | | | March 24, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Lebanon, TN (March 22, 2008) – After recording two Top 10’s in three weeks, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team arrived in Nashville looking for their first win of the season. Welcomed by nice weather for a change, they unloaded the #7 GEICO Camry and went to work trying to find speed for the impending practice sessions.
Wallace would find success in the 1st practice session, as he would sit in the 13th position on the practice sheet when the session concluded. The final practice session would follow a similar course and Wallace and the GEICO Camry would once again rest 13th on the final speed charts. Armed with speed and a decent qualifying draw, Wallace and the Germain Racing team looked forward to qualifying on Saturday morning.
During qualifying, Wallace and the Gecko would tour the 1.33-mile facility in 30.124 seconds, at a rate of speed of 159.302 miles per hour. When qualifying concluded, Wallace would find himself starting 24th for the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.
Under blue skies and temperatures in the mid-50’s, Wallace would take the green flag and begin to move forward in an attempt to record another top finish for the GEICO Racing team. Things would go as planned, as Wallace would even dip into the Top 10 before a green flag pit stop just past the halfway point of the race would set him back.
During the pit stop a lug nut would fail to be secured and, consequently, NASCAR would penalize Wallace and the GEICO Racing team and force the #7 GEICO Camry down pit road for a stop and go penalty that would result in Wallace going two laps down. Unable to recover from the penalty, Wallace and the Gecko would salvage a 20th place finish and leave Nashville ready for a week off.
A week off of sorts. While there is no race next weekend, on Monday, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head to Richmond International Raceway. They will be testing and preparing for the upcoming May 2nd race at the ¾-mile D-shaped oval, which occurs in GEICO’s backyard.
“Obviously, this was a rough day for the GEICO Racing team, but we kept racing and fighting and we were at least able to get a Top 20 out of the deal,” Wallace said. “Our whole philosophy is persistence, so we’re going to put Nashville behind us and look towards Texas, which is where Sport Clips is based. I’ve enjoyed my relationship with Sport Clips and it always makes it fun to return to Texas Motor Speedway and attempt to get their franchisees some additional exposure.”
He added, “While this week is technically a week off, we’re not even taking a day off because we’re going to Richmond on Monday to test and get ready for our race up there in May. Richmond is not far from the GEICO corporate office, so it’s a special race for all of us and we’re going to gather as much data as possible this week and do the best we can to ensure a great run up there in a few weeks.”
The next race for the GEICO Racing team is the O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Records Top 10 in Bristol; Off to Music City Seeking First Win of Season | | | | March 17, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Bristol, TN (March 15, 2008) – Mike Wallace arrived in Bristol preparing to make his 300th career start, and he hoped to celebrate it with a good run for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport. Like so many other weekends this season, rain would play a role in the GEICO Racing team’s strategy.
On Friday, practice would be cancelled due to rain, not allowing the #7 GEICO Camry any time to adjust to the .533-mile oval. Not long after, qualifying for the Sharpie Mini 300 would also be cancelled when NASCAR chose instead to allow the race teams a practice session on Saturday morning rather than qualifying.
It appears as though qualifying being rained out is becoming the norm for Wallace and the GEICO team.
“Well, we’ve certainly gained some consistency in our qualifying program because we’re starting 17th just about every week,” Wallace joked in regard to the starting line-up being set according to 2007 final owner point standings due to poor weather.
Rain would delay the start of the Sharpie Mini 300, but not for long. Once the rain cleared, the jet dryers would quickly hit the track and prepare the World’s Fastest Half-Mile for an afternoon of old school short track beating and banging in front of a crowd of almost 100,000 fans.
Starting from the 17th position, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry exhibited patience when the green flag was displayed, and simply logged laps before making a calculated move to the front of the field. Notably Wallace would narrowly miss multiple crashes that would have ended his hopes for a good finish in Bristol. During pit stops, the Germain Racing team would turn out timely stops that would assist in Wallace’s trek to the Top 10.
By Lap 106, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would settle comfortably in the Top 10 and reside there for the remainder of the afternoon. Rain would begin to lightly blanket the historic short track around Lap 120, however racing would continue until conditions worsened and forced the red flag to be displayed on Lap 171. The GEICO Camry would find itself in the 10th position when the cars came to a rest on pit road.
As the rain set in, NASCAR would soon call the race and since the race had surpassed the halfway point, the running order would stand and Mike Wallace and the GEICO team would record their 2nd Top 10 in three weeks.
While most teams would be glad to record a Top 10 finish in Bristol, Wallace had his sights set higher for his 300th career start in NASCAR’s #2 series.
“It’s Bristol, so we will gladly take the Top 10 finish, especially since the #7 GEICO Camry is in one piece, but we definitely had a car to win this race,” Wallace said shortly after rain overtook the track and forced fans and teams alike to seek shelter. “We were really strong today and the GEICO team did a great job on the pit stops and we worked really hard to put ourselves in position to get a win here today. The good news is that we have our second Top 10 in three weeks and we’ve jumped two spots in the point standings to 7th.”
He continued, “Next week we go to Nashville where I have traditionally ran well and it will give us a chance to continue making up ground on (David) Reutimann in the 5th spot in the point standings. We’ve shown that we’re a good team and that we can compete with anyone out here, and we will continue to go out and work hard to get a win for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
As Wallace mentioned, the Gecko now sits in the 7th position in the point standings, moving up two spots from last week’s standings. In what could be deemed a battle of television commercial stars, Wallace closely eyes David Reutimann in the 5th position, where just 65 points makes up the difference between the two.
This week, the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head to Nashville, TN, for the Pepsi 300.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Nashville Superspeedway for their first practice on Friday, March 21st, at 2:30 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 5:30 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 11:05 AM (ET).
The Pepsi 300 is on Saturday, March 22nd, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 2:00 PM (ET), with green flag action coming at 3:00 PM (ET). The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Player Management International Release
Hampton, GA (March 8, 2008) – After a beautiful weekend in Las Vegas, the GEICO Racing team would arrive in Atlanta only to encounter weather typically reserved for the Midwest during this time of year. Qualifying would even be canceled due to snow. That’s right, snow.
When Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry hit the track for practice on Friday, they were hoping to find the speed they had in the Las Vegas race a week ago. Unfortunately, their practice times would mirror those of a week ago in the desert. The final practice session, which due to rain would be the sole session, would not go well, however towards the end of the session Wallace radioed in and said the car felt like it was getting much better. Ironically, this was the same statement that he made a week ago prior to the end of the final practice session in Las Vegas, where the final race result was a 7th place finish.
Snow would blanket Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday morning and provide temperatures that seemed more appropriate for a late-season college football game than a NASCAR race. Amid the wind and cold, fans would still file in to see the Nicorette 300 on Saturday afternoon, as the skies would begin to clear around noon and provide a beautiful day for racing. Unfortunately, the cold and heavy winds would not depart the 1.54-mile quad-oval.
Inclement weather forced the cancellation of qualifying on Saturday morning, so Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would start the Nicorette 300 from the 19th position, as the field was lined up according to the final 2007 point standings.
When the green flag waved, Wallace would battle a loose condition and, consequently, move quickly backwards during the opening laps, falling back as far as 26th before the first round of pit stops. The Germain Racing team would work hard on the GEICO Camry to get the set up corrected and help Wallace make up ground on the field.
The work of the GEICO team would pay off, as Wallace and the Gecko would move steadily through the field and run lap times quicker than the cars they were chasing. Wallace would run as high as 7th, however a green flag pit stop would set him back and he would be forced to battle hard to record a solid 17th place finish.
“We had a decent day and worked hard to get that 17th place finish,” Wallace said. “We encountered some difficulties early in the race, but this GEICO team worked really hard to get the car corrected and it paid off as the race wore on. We didn’t finish as well as we would’ve liked, but we got a solid finish and now we’re going to Bristol next week to try to win a race. I have traditionally experienced success in Bristol, so next week I’m going to work hard to take the #7 GEICO Camry to Victory Lane.”
This week, the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head to Bristol Motor Speedway for some good ‘ole fashioned beating and banging on the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ race track.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Bristol Motor Speedway for their first practice on Friday, March 14th, at 1:40 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 4:45 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 9:40 AM (ET).
The Sharpie Mini 300 is on Saturday, March 15th, and it will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:00 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Las Vegas, NV (March 1, 2008) – When the #7 GEICO team rolled into Las Vegas, they were looking for the #7 on their race car to turn into ‘lucky 7’. Wallace and the Gecko arrived in the Entertainment Capital of the World with high hopes of improving upon their 16th place finish the previous week in Fontana and earn their first Top 10 of the season.
Practice would not be an indication of what Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would do later in the race. During the first practice session on Friday, he would struggle through it and find himself in the 29th position at the close of the session. Wallace would not fare much better in Final Practice, as he would jump only four spots to 25th when the red flag closed the session.
The Germain Racing team continued to work hard on the set up of the #7 GEICO Camry in order to prepare the car for qualifying on Saturday morning. Their hard work would become evident during qualifying when Wallace and the Gecko toured the 1.5-mile facility in 30.477 seconds, at a rate of speed of 177.183. Despite the track being 46 degrees hotter than it was during the January NASCAR test session where Wallace was 8th fastest, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Toyota would find themselves starting 18th, sandwiched between NASCAR legends Mark Martin in 17th, and Bobby Labonte in 19th.
Early in the race, the #7 GEICO Camry would log laps and exhibit patience that would pay off as the day progressed. A seasoned veteran, Wallace would narrowly avoid an early crash on Lap 9 that had Jason Leffler and Kyle Krisiloff trading paint as they exited Turn 4.
The Germain Racing team would assist Wallace on his trek to the front with good pit stops throughout the day. During a caution on Lap 65, Wallace would come down pit road running in the 20th position for four tires and fuel. The Germain Racing team would send the #7 GEICO Camry out in the 18th position, gaining two spots during their stop and starting what would turn out to be a full out assault on the field.
By lap 79, Wallace and the Gecko were in the 15th position, and then on Lap 101 they were sitting 12th. A caution on Lap 103 would once again see the GEICO pit crew going to work and doing their part in the pursuit of the top spot. Wallace would enter pit road running 12th, but the Germain Racing pit crew would pull off another great stop and have Wallace re-starting the race in the 9th position, marking his first appearance of the day in the Top 10. He must have felt comfortable there because he would stay among the leaders for the remainder of the afternoon, even working his way into the Top 5 by Lap 134 where he sat 4th.
On Lap 187, the caution flag would once again be displayed at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval. Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would take on four tires and fuel, while most other cars would only take on two tires. This strategy would cost the GEICO team precious seconds and send Wallace back to the 12th position for the re-start.
Lap 195 would get hairy when Mark Martin got into the back of Carl Edwards and sent him spinning on the front stretch. Wallace would miss this crash by the narrowest of margins as the field was coming to 5 laps to go. This caution would have Wallace sitting inside the Top 10 and preparing for a green/white/checker finish.
With three laps to go, Wallace would take the green flag and move quickly forward, picking up 3 spots and recording a 7th place finish under perfect skies in Las Vegas. Wallace’s Top 10 finish would bump him up four spots in the point standings to 8th, where he sits just 52 points removed from the Top 5.
“This was a great run for our team and for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport,” Wallace said. “We had a good run last week in Fontana and it is nice to follow it up this week with a Top 10. This GEICO team is working really hard and I think this is the type of performance that we can start expecting week in and week out. The pit stops were really good and as the race wore on we were able to move quickly to the front and run up there with the leaders for most of the afternoon.”
This week, the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head just down the road to Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Atlanta race will be a welcome break for ‘Superman’, the GEICO hauler driver, as he has spent the last two weeks on the road during NASCAR’s West Coast swing.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Atlanta Motor Speedway for their first practice on Friday, March 7th, at 10:10 AM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 1:05 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 9:15 AM (ET).
The Nicorette 300 is on Saturday, March 8th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 1:30 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Fontana, CA (February 25, 2008) – Raindrops keep falling on my head is more than a 1970’s hit song by B.J. Thomas, it was the theme for the weekend in Fontana. After sitting all day Saturday waiting for the rain to clear, NASCAR decided late Saturday night to postpone the Stater Bros. 300 and start the race on Sunday afternoon after the conclusion of the Sprint Cup race.
Unfortunately, the rain would continue into Sunday and cause the Sprint Cup race to be called off after just 87 laps. Consequently, after spending another full day and night at the track, NASCAR would once again reschedule the 300-mile race for Monday afternoon after the rescheduled Sprint Cup race concluded, which would see the #7 GEICO Camry on the starting grid at approximately 4:00 PM (ET).
A tired and weary Germain Racing team would show up to the track on Monday morning excited about running a race that had already been rescheduled twice. While they were worn out and ready for rest, they were also excited about a car that had shown great promise in the sole practice session.
On-track activities had been canceled on Friday, but NASCAR allowed a 90-minute practice session on Saturday prior to the start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Mike Wallace and the Gecko were all business when they hit the track, and after sitting as high as 8th on the charts, they would find themselves 13th on the final practice sheet. With qualifying having been canceled as well, the #7 GEICO Camry would start the race from the 17th position, as the starting line up was based on the point standings from the 2007 season.
Under perfect skies on Monday afternoon, the Stater Bros. 300 would finally hear engines roar as they anticipated the long awaited start. In an event that seemed to more closely resemble a 24-hour endurance race, the green flag would wave at approximately 4:30 PM (ET), and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would be strong on the initial run. It would not be long before Wallace would work his way into the Top 15 and continue on a torrid pace through the first half of the race.
On Lap 70, Wallace would pop into the Top 10 and refuse to leave, even working his way up to 9th before a late-race green flag pit stop would force him down pit road for four tires and fuel. The Germain Racing team would give Wallace and the GEICO Camry a good stop, however Wallace would find himself back in the 26th position where he would have his work cut out for him. He would waste little time and start working his way to the front, finding himself in the Top 20 within a few laps.
Wallace would ultimately record a resilient 16th place finish when the checkered flag ended the day at California Speedway. The 16th place finish would bump Wallace and the Gecko up to the 12th position in the point standings, just 25 points removed from Clint Bowyer and the Top 10.
“This was a long weekend to say the least, but we proved that we’re resilient and tough, and that regardless of circumstances this GEICO team will make things happen,” Wallace said. “I’m so proud of this Germain team and I’m glad we were able to have the GEICO car running in the Top 10 today. We’re looking forward to getting to Vegas this week because we had a great test there in January where we were 8th, and we’re sure that’s going to translate into the race next weekend.”
He continued, “It was great to have Gordon Logan (Sport Clips CEO and Founder) at the track this weekend and we talked a lot about the VFW and what we can do to bring about awareness to their programs which service our nation’s veterans of foreign wars. When we’re sitting there in the rain for three days it’s frustrating, but then when you realize the sacrifices that our troops are making you realize how fortunate you really are, despite the rain or anything else.”
This week, the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and make the short trip from California to Las Vegas. Las Vegas will wrap up NASCAR’s west coast road trip before they head to Atlanta on March 8th.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for their first practice on Friday, February 29th, at 1:30 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 4:45 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 12:05 PM (ET).
The Sam’s Town 300 race is on Saturday, March 1st, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 4:00 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace 24th in Daytona; The Gecko Heading West | | | | February 18, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Daytona Beach, FL (February 16, 2008) – When the GEICO Racing team arrived in Daytona to kick off the 2008 NASCAR season, they were hopeful that they would be able to put the #7 GEICO Camry back in Victory Lane, where it last visited on July 2, 2004. While the #7 GEICO car looked similar to last year’s car, it was sporting a new manufacturer in Toyota, and a new race team in Germain Racing.
More interesting in Daytona was a Lauren Wallace sighting in both of the NASCAR garages on race day. The aggressive young driver who is the third cousin, once removed, of Mike Wallace has been featured over the last year in the GEICO Racing commercials and seems to have developed an Elvis-like following that kept him signing autographs and taking photos for hours.
Lauren Wallace was on hand in Daytona to promote the launch of geicogarage.com, which is a web site that is one of the most innovative, interactive sites in all of auto racing. Officially launched on Saturday morning prior to the race, geicogarage.com takes race fans inside the world of GEICO Racing and provides an in-depth, interactive look at the world of the #7 GEICO Racing team.
On the race track, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team would look sporty in the opening practice session when they sat 16th on the practice charts when the session concluded. Committed to finding speed, the Germain Racing team worked feverishly between practice sessions to improve the car. Their work proved fruitful, as Wallace would find himself sitting in the 6th position when the red flag ended the final practice.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would start the Camping World 300 from the 22nd position, and felt confident that they would move forward when the race got underway in front of a packed house and perfect weather in Daytona. When the green flag waved at the famed 2.5-mile tri-oval, restrictor plate specialist Wallace and the Gecko would pick up five spots on the opening lap.
Wallace would ultimately dip into the Top 10 despite battling handling issues throughout the afternoon. The Germain Racing team worked hard to make the proper adjustments and correct the car during pit stops, but it was to no avail. While the majority of the field featured Sprint Cup drivers and teams, the GEICO Racing team would run strong and put up a solid performance in spite of their handling issues.
After 300 miles of racing and keeping the car clean, including narrow avoidance of crashes, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team would record a solid 24th place finish when the checkered flag waved over a beautiful day in Daytona.
“This was not the result we were looking for, but we have learned a great deal about the car that we can bring back here in July,” Wallace said. “We did poorly here in February 2004, but then turned around and won the July race. This race is behind us now and we are moving on to Fontana where we’ll work hard to get a win and pick up ground in the point standings. This Germain Racing team has a great attitude and they are working hard at the shop every day, so I’m certain that it’s going to pay off soon.”
He continued, “My third cousin, once removed, Lauren Wallace was here for the race, which was very exciting for everyone. On our GEICO television commercials he’s always talking about putting me in the wall, but at the race track he is there to support me, so he sat up on the pit box and gave me feedback over the radio, much like he does on geicogarage.com.”
Next week, the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and head west to California. This will be a West Coast road trip of sorts, as they will visit Las Vegas the week following Fontana, CA.
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, for their first practice on Friday, February 22nd, at 12:45 PM (ET). Final practice is also on Friday at 1:20 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 12:35 PM (ET).
The Stater Bros. 300 race is on Saturday, February 23rd, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 7:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace Likes His Chances with GEICO Camry at Daytona | | | | February 12, 2008 | | | | Mike Wallace, No. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry
Germain Racing Media Release
Mooresville, N.C. (2-8-2008) – Coming off of his best NASCAR Busch Series points finish, eleventh, in 2007, Mike Wallace is geared up to start his 2008 season off with a big win in the no. 7 GEICO Camry at a very prestigious track – a track where he’s visited victory lane two times in his NASCAR racing career and once in ARCA. Wallace, driving for Germain Racing, is focused on one thing – winning again at Daytona.
“I’m going to Daytona with the intention of winning my 4th race,” said Mike Wallace, a veteran of the NASCAR ranks who is considered a restrictor plate specialist and counts Daytona among his favorite tracks. “Daytona is an incredibly exciting race track. It’s the world center of speed in stock car racing. I’m looking forward to racing our new Toyota Camry with GEICO and Sport Clips aboard. I can’t think of a better way to help GEICO launch their new, interactive fan website on Saturday, geicogarage.com, than by getting them a win in the Camping World 300.”
When Wallace takes the green flag at Daytona, he will be one race closer to two important career milestones. Wallace has 295 races in NASCAR’s #2 series, and he starts the season with 593 NASCAR races to his credit. He will join elite company when he reaches 300 NNS starts at Bristol and 600 career starts, likely at Texas Motor Speedway, in April.
Looming milestones aside, Wallace has been known for years as a racer that has a special talent at ‘restrictor plate’ race tracks, of which Daytona is one. For Wallace, Daytona is the most special one.
“There’s no other race track that carries the name or mystique of Daytona International Speedway in stock car racing. The tracks equal in open wheel is Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” Wallace reflected. “I like the aura of Daytona, I understand it.”
This year’s trip to Daytona is a special event for NASCAR’s top-series drivers as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500 while celebrating the 60th year of NASCAR racing. The historical significance is important to Wallace because Daytona is important to him, personally.
“Even though it’s not the 50th annual race for our series, it’s the 50th annual Daytona 500,” said Wallace. “Daytona is a special place to me, personally. It’s where I won my first major race, the ARCA race at Daytona (in 1994). Winning there as I have, it means you know what it feels like and you know what it takes to get to victory lane. Your attitude the whole race is getting everything to happen right so that you are back in the most prestigious victory lane in NASCAR.”
Adding to the experience of Daytona will be Wallace’s excitement and energy about GEICO’s new and best interactive race fan website, geicogarage.com.
“Geicogarage.com launches on Saturday, February 16th. It will be an interactive website with me, Chrissy Wallace, Lauren Wallace and some really big names from the open-wheel racing ranks involved in the game. You can tune in to geicogarage.com now to see a preview – it’s going to be an interactive experience for race fans like they’ve never seen before,” said Mike Wallace.
Wallace will be in winning company while he makes his bid for a fourth Daytona victory. Germain Racing, which fields the GEICO Camry for Wallace, is a championship winning team that has amassed more wins with their #30 Tundra than any other Toyota Tundra team to date. Germain Racing led laps and earned two top-ten finishes in their debut in the Busch Series in 2007. In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Germain has won two or more races each year, since the team opened in 2004, for a total of 13 wins. Along with the victories, the team has earned 4 Bud Pole awards, 54 top-five and 81 top-ten finishes and led 1281 laps in 152 Truck Series races.
“Success is very important to Germain Racing. Mike Wallace fits into our program well. We are very proud to have him, GEICO and Sport Clips join our team and to grow our relationship with long-time partner Smith Transport,” said Mike Hillman Sr., General Manager of Germain Racing who, with the team’s 2006 Truck Series championship title now holds two NASCAR championship titles. “We had the opportunity to put Mike Wallace in a Toyota Tundra last season. He really worked well with the team, drove a very strong race and showed everyone that he will be a very competitive racer for us. I am confident that with Bruce Cook calling the shots, and everyone here at Germain Racing behind him and Mike, we will put the GEICO Camry in victory lane this season and Daytona is a good place to start.”
GEICO, who is entering their 8th year of involvement in America’s #2 racing series, has also experienced success in NASCAR. On July 2, 2004, Wallace passed Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jason Leffler coming out of Turn 4 at Daytona International Speedway to hand GEICO and Sport Clips their first NASCAR victories.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Records First Top 10 in 2008 (sort of); Ramping Up For Daytona | | | | February 12, 2008 | | | | Mike Wallace, No. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry
Germain Racing Media Release
Concord, NC (February 6, 2008) – Two weeks after a Daytona test left Mike Wallace and Germain Racing scratching their heads, they headed to Las Vegas to test at the 1.5-mile superspeedway in the desert. They were determined to redeem themselves from a test in Daytona that did not go as well as expected.
The Germain Racing team would spend their first test day shaking down the #7 GEICO Camry and gathering data that would help them find the right set up. When the sun set on Las Vegas Motor Speedway on January 30th, Wallace and the Gecko would find themselves sitting 23rd on the speed charts. While 23rd is not the desired result, Wallace and crew chief Bruce Cook felt good about the day they had and the information they were able to record about the race car.
When the 2nd day of testing began at LVMS, Wallace and Cook had reason to feel good because they immediately hit the top of the speed chart, shooting straight to 4th. After an 8-hour day of testing, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry rested comfortably in the 8th position, picking up 15 spots from the previous day of testing.
Now, just a week from debuting the #7 GEICO Camry at Daytona, Wallace feels more confident than ever heading into the 2008 season.
“Las Vegas went really well for us and I am proud of Bruce (Cook) and the entire Germain team for working so hard to get the car right. Obviously, it paid off,” Wallace said. “We are excited to get to Daytona next week. The Daytona test was just that, a test. It was not the Daytona race. The race is on February 16th and we’re going there to win. We got a lot of great data that has helped the GEICO team get the car right for Daytona. We’re not going there to show up, we’re going to win and put the #7 GEICO Camry in Victory Lane.”
Daytona is one of Wallace’s favorite tracks and he is one of the best in the business when it comes to restrictor-plate racing. On July 2, 2004, he passed Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and Jason Leffler coming out of Turn 4 to win the Winn-Dixie 250 NASCAR Busch Series race and hand GEICO and Sport Clips their first NASCAR wins. Most recently, a year ago in the Daytona 500, Wallace recorded a 4th place finish while driving the #09 Miccosukee Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing.

| | | | | | The Gecko Ready for Daytona Test; Wallace Dateless for the Daytona 500 | | | | January 24, 2008 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Mooresville, NC (January 14, 2008) – Just two months removed from recording a career best points finish, Mike Wallace and the Gecko are gearing up to head to Daytona for the first test of the 2008 NASCAR season. Entering their 8th season of involvement in the nation’s #2 racing series, GEICO is looking forward to improving upon their 2007 11th place finish in the point standings.
A new look will accompany Wallace, as he moved the GEICO sponsorship to Germain Racing in the off-season, thus switching from Chevrolet to Toyota. While the team has changed, the driver, number and paint-scheme will stay the same.
Sport Clips and Smith Transport have also followed the middle brother of the Wallace racing family to Germain Racing for the 2008 campaign. Sport Clips is entering their sixth season of involvement in NASCAR and celebrated with GEICO on July 2, 2004, when Wallace handed both of them their first NASCAR Busch Series wins after passing Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jason Leffler coming out of Turn 4 to win the Winn-Dixie 250.
While Wallace will test the #7 GEICO Camry beginning on January 18th to get ready to chase his fourth win at Daytona on February 16th, he still remains without a ride for the Daytona 500. His initial plans to attempt to qualify for the 50th running of The Great American Race for Morgan-McClure Motorsports fell apart last week when they closed their doors after 25 years of NASCAR competition. Consequently, Wallace is without a date for the biggest race of the year.
Lest we forget that Daytona is one of Wallace’s favorite tracks and he is one of the best in the business when it comes to restrictor-plate racing. In fact, a year ago in the Daytona 500, Wallace recorded a 4th place finish while driving the #09 Miccosukee Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing.
“We are all very excited about the 2008 season and the switch to Germain Racing and Toyota,” Wallace said. “This is a championship team and they are giving us the resources we need to go out and chase the championship. We’re heading to Daytona this week to spend a couple of days testing and gather as much data as possible and get ramped up for the race on February 16th. We are going to do the best we can to get a win for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
In regards to the Daytona 500, Wallace responded, “I mean what can you say, it’s the biggest race of the year. We all want to be there. I have multiple Top 5’s in the Daytona 500, including my 4th place finish last year. The reality is that I want to be there and I want to win that race, but my priority is the #7 GEICO Camry and I’m going to focus on that program and if something for the 500 comes along then great.”
One thing is certain, and that is whether or not he gets a ride for the Daytona 500, Wallace will be busy preparing to position the Gecko for a win on February 16th and have GEICO and Sport Clips once again partying together in Victory Lane at Daytona International Speedway.

| | | | | | GEICO, Wallace Join Germain Racing in 2008 | | | | December 11, 2007 | | | | Mike Wallace, No. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry
Mooresville, N.C. (12-10-2007) - Germain Racing is proud to announce the addition of Mike Wallace and the no. 7 GEICO Toyota Camry to the team’s winning lineup. Wallace is coming off of his best NASCAR Busch Series career points finish – eleventh - in 2007. He will compete full-time in NASCAR’s #2 series in 2008 with continued sponsorship from long-time sponsor and active series advertiser, GEICO. In addition, the relationships with partners Sport Clips and Smith Transport will continue to play key roles with the no. 7 GEICO Camry.
“I’m very excited about driving the no. 7 GEICO Camry for Germain Racing. I’ve raced with Mike Hillman in the past and we have a mutual respect for one another. We are both no nonsense, hard-nosed racers and we understand and respect one another,” said Mike Wallace, a veteran of the NASCAR ranks who has amassed eight victories, with four collected in the former NASCAR Busch Series. “It is also exciting that Sport Clips and Smith Transport will once again be onboard with us as we move into the 2008 season. Getting the GEICO Camry to victory lane is a big priority for all of us this season.”
Germain Racing joined NASCAR’s top ranks in 2004 when the team first competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Richmond International Raceway. The fourth place finish that resulted was the spring board to the team’s championship success. Germain Racing earned two victories in 2004, five in 2005, three in 2006 and three more in 2007. The team became Toyota’s first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champions in 2006, and Germain Racing charged into Busch Series competition in 2007 earning a top-ten finish after leading 15 laps in their first-ever Busch Series race.
“We are very proud to have GEICO and Mike Wallace join our race team,” said Mike Hillman Sr., General Manager of Germain Racing who, with the team’s 2006 Truck Series championship title now holds two NASCAR championship titles (Tommy Ellis, 1988, NASCAR Busch Grand National Series). “We had the opportunity to put Mike Wallace in a Toyota Tundra last season. He really worked well with the team, drove a very strong race and showed everyone that he will be a very competitive racer for us. I am confident that with Bruce Cook calling the shots, and everyone here at Germain Racing behind him and Mike, we will put the GEICO Camry in victory lane this season.”
Germain earned two top-ten finishes in five races in the Busch Series in 2007. In the Truck Series, Germain has won two or more races each year for a total of 13 wins. Along with the victories, the team earned 4 Bud Pole awards, 54 top-five and 81 top-ten finishes and led 1281 laps in 152 Truck Series races.
GEICO, who is entering their 8th year of involvement in America’s #2 racing series, has also experienced success in NASCAR. On July 2, 2004, Wallace passed Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jason Leffler coming out of Turn 4 to hand GEICO and Sport Clips their first NASCAR victory at Daytona International Speedway.
“You can’t say enough good things about GEICO. The branding they do, the effort they put into advertising their name beyond the GEICO Camry, to the grandstands and outside the race track. They are a great sponsor and we are hoping to perform well for them this season,” said Wallace, who just returned from Hollywood, Ca., where he was involved in a media production on behalf of GEICO. “We had a great time in L.A. I’m not going to give away too much, but I have to tell you that Lauren Wallace is coming after me in 2008. Our GEICO Camry will need to be fast.”

| | | | | | Wallace & The Gecko Post Top 25 in Season Finale; Series Bids Farewell to Busch | | | | November 20, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Contact: Doug Barnette
Homestead, FL (November 17, 2007) – When the NASCAR Busch Series descended on Homestead-Miami Speedway for its season finale it was with a heavy heart, as the series bid farewell to Busch, its sponsor of 26 years. However, that would not sidetrack the Gecko, as he and Mike Wallace would stay focused on both recording a Top 10 finish in the race, as well as finishing in the Top 10 in the point standings.
Heading into Saturday’s Ford 300 NASCAR Busch Series race, Wallace was sitting 10th in the point standings, holding just a 14-point lead over Matt Kenseth. He hoped to maintain his position when the checkered flag would wave later that evening.
When the opening practice session began on Friday, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would show promise and ultimately wind up 21st on the speed charts when practice concluded. While the GEICO Racing team had hoped to improve on the time they recorded in the first practice, they would instead drop to 33rd when the red flag closed the final practice session on Friday evening.
Qualifying on Saturday would not get much better for Wallace, as he turned a lap of 32.295 seconds, at a speed of 167.209 MPH. The #7 GEICO Chevrolet would find itself starting from the 32nd position, just behind Mike Bliss.
When the green flag waved over the final Busch Series race of Busch’s 26-year involvement in NASCAR, Wallace would quickly move forward. Before his tires were warm he would find himself in the Top 20, and before it was all said and done he would visit the Top 10. Unfortunately, Wallace would become part and parcel of a mid-race wreck that caused light damage to the #7 GEICO Chevrolet. While a Top 10 finish would elude Wallace, he would battle hard and still manage to record a 24th place finish in the Ford 300.
Unfortunately, Matt Kenseth would record a 3rd place finish in the race and bump Wallace out of the Top 10 in the final point standings. Wallace ends up 11th in the point standings, just 55 points out of the ever coveted Top 10.
“It was a sentimental weekend with it being the final ‘Busch’ Series race and it was an honor to be a part of it, even though we didn’t finish where we wanted to,” Wallace said. “It has been a long year and I’m very thankful for the support of GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport. I have also enjoyed the relationship with James Finch and Phoenix Racing and I appreciate everything they have done for me this season. I will take some time off to spend with my family and then get to work and get ready to go out and try to win a championship in 2008.”
He continued, “Now that the season has ended we will slow down a bit and enjoy Thanksgiving and think about the things in life that are truly important. Our country is at war and there are a lot of families who will be having Thanksgiving dinner without their loved ones and we will think of them and keep them in our Prayers. Racing is very important, but there are people putting their lives on the line each and every day so we can go do our jobs, and we can never forget that.”
Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team will take a couple of months off before traveling to Daytona in January for pre-season testing. A month later, as history would have it, Wallace will head to Daytona for the first race of the season on February 16, 2008. 2008 will mark NASCAR’s 60th anniversary, and will be GEICO’s 8th year of involvement in the sport.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Records 17th Place Finish in Phoenix; Heading South for the Finale | | | | November 14, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Contact: Doug Barnette
Phoenix, AZ (November 10, 2007) – Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team arrived in Phoenix, AZ, hoping to hold onto their 10th position in the point standings. With just one race remaining after they depart the Valley of the Sun, the Phoenix Racing team looked to run up front and pick up points in the standings.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would show promise during the opening practice session at Phoenix International Raceway, as they would sit 20th on the practice sheet when the session concluded. Unfortunately, during the final practice session, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would betray the speed it showed during the first session when it ended it up 36th on the final speed charts.
The #7 GEICO Chevrolet would fare better in qualifying, when Wallace turned a lap of 27.647 seconds at a speed of 130.213 MPH. The Gecko would find itself starting on the inside of Row 12, just to the inside of Greg Biffle.
When the Arizona Travel 200 NASCAR Busch Series race went green, Wallace would instantly pick up positions and battle to get to the front of the field. Before recording a 17th place finish, he would maneuver the #7 GEICO Chevrolet around multiple crashes and survive a race in which several of NASCAR’s best and brightest would find their way to the garage area after early exits.
As they packed up under the Arizona sunset, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would give up their 10th position in the point standings, as Matt Kenseth would finish 2nd in Phoenix and bump Wallace down to 11th. Kenseth now holds an eleven point lead over Wallace heading into Homestead, the final race of the season. Greg Biffle, who is 9th in the point standings, sits just 16 points ahead of Wallace and the Gecko. Homestead will be nothing less than exciting, as Wallace will battle both Kenseth and Biffle for the opportunity to wrap up his season in the 10th position in the final point standings.
“We would’ve liked to finish better in Phoenix, but we will take the 17th and look towards Homestead,” Wallace said. “We’re getting down to the end here and we need to focus on getting to Homestead and finishing up front and putting ourselves in position to finish in the Top 10. Our main goal is to go down there and win a race for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to Homestead, Florida, for the NASCAR Busch Series season finale on Saturday, November 17th, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Homestead-Miami Speedway for their first practice session on Friday, November 16th, at 1:10 PM (ET), with final practice at 6:35 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Saturday at 12:05 PM (ET).
On Saturday, November 17th, the Ford 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 4:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 4:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Earns Top 25 in Texas; Heading West to Phoenix | | | | November 05, 2007 | | | | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Doug Barnette,Player Management International Media Release
Fort Worth, TX (November 3, 2007) – When the Gecko and Mike Wallace arrived at Texas Motor Speedway they were sitting comfortably in the 10th position in the point standings, and they were hoping that a good run would create more distance between them and Matt Kenseth, who sits in 11th. After a 15th place finish in the April race in Texas, Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team were hoping to improve upon that in the O’Reilly Challenge on Saturday.
Practice would not go as planned, as the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would sit 31st in the first practice session. While they had hoped to improve their position in the final practice session, they ultimately fell two positions and finished up 33rd on the speed charts when practice concluded.
Qualifying would not go any better, as Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would tour the 1.5-mile facility in 21.149 seconds, at a rate of speed of 185.255 MPH. Unfortunately, he would find himself back in Row 17 in the 33rd position, just next to his nephew Steve Wallace. However, due to an engine change, Wallace would be forced to the start at the rear of the field when the race went green on Saturday afternoon.
While starting at the back of the field would be a deterrent for most, Wallace would embrace the situation and charge to the front of the field not long after the green flag was displayed in front of a packed house in Fort Worth, Texas. Starting from the 43rd position, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would methodically move to the front of the field and settle comfortably in the Top 25 before taking the lead and finding themselves at the front of the field.
When the checkered flag was displayed 300 miles after the race started, Wallace and the Gecko would record a 21st place finish. More importantly, Wallace would maintain his position inside the Top 10 in the point standings, and he now holds a 52-point lead over Matt Kenseth, who sits in the 11th position. Wallace and the Gecko are closely eyeing Marcos Ambrose in the 9th position, as they sit just 37-points removed.
If Wallace is feeling any pressure it does not show.
“We would’ve liked to have run better in Texas, but we were at least able to maintain our position in the Top 10,” Wallace said. “Some would say that we’re under pressure to stay in the Top 10, but pressure is something I put on myself every day that I show up at the racetrack. It’s just a part of what we do and I welcome it. We’re all working hard to get a win for GEICO before the year’s out and we look forward getting to Phoenix this week and doing what we do.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team head west to Phoenix, Arizona, for the Arizona Travel 200 NASCAR Busch Series race on Saturday, November 10, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Phoenix International Raceway for their first practice session on Friday, November 9th, at 12:00 PM (ET), with final practice at 3:35 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Saturday at 12:05 PM (ET).
On Saturday, November 10th, the Arizona Travel 200 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 4:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 4:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace 13th in Memphis; Off to the Lone Star State | | | | October 29, 2007 | | | | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Doug Barnette, Player Management International Media Release
Memphis, TN (October 27, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team arrived at Memphis Motorsports Park, they were looking forward to taking advantage of the lack of Nextel Cup drivers at the event. Sitting just 22 points out of the Top 10 in the point standings, Wallace and the Gecko would benefit from Matt Kenseth remaining in Atlanta for his Cup responsibilities, as this would allow them to hop back into the Top 10 with a solid run.
When the first practice session began on Friday afternoon in the Bluff City, Wallace and the GEICO Racing team would have cause for concern. The car did not respond well to the .75-mile oval, and they would wrap up the practice session in the 30th position. Crew chief, Gere Kennon, and the GEICO crew would go to work to correct the car’s condition during the intermission between practices. Fortunately, the hard work would pay off and when the red flag closed the final practice session, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would be sitting in the 17th spot on the speed charts.
Wallace and the Gecko would also fair well in qualifying, as they would tour the facility in 23.157 seconds at a rate of speed of 116.595 MPH. His effort would reward him with an 11th starting position, which would be his best effort of the season, topping his 18th starting position in Dover on June 2nd.
When the green flag waved on Saturday afternoon, Wallace would waste little time in moving the #7 GEICO Chevrolet forward, as he would immediately move into the 10th position in the opening laps. He would consistently run in the Top 10 all afternoon, or for as long as the race would stay under the green flag. The race would see a record breaking 25 (yes, 25) caution flags in the 253 laps, which would limit everyone’s ability to race well on long runs. Due to the lack of Cup drivers, Wallace would have his best chance at getting a Top 10 finish this season, however a late race spin would hinder that opportunity and, after a race that lasted over three hours, he would record a respectable 13th place finish.
On a positive note, Wallace would return himself and the Gecko to the 10th position in the point standings after his solid run.
“I’m happy with the weekend overall because were able to qualify well and then race really well,” Wallace said. “Unfortunately it turned into a bit of a circus with the 25 caution flags, but we were able to salvage a 13th place finish after the spin. More importantly, we were able to put GEICO back in the Top 10 in the point standings and now we’ll head to Texas and continue to work hard to get a win for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport before the year ends.”
He continued, “Texas is always a fun race for us because GEICO has a regional office in Dallas and Sport Clips’ corporate office is located in Georgetown, TX, which is a suburb of Austin. This is a race that means a lot to our sponsors, and it definitely means a lot to us.”
This week, The Phoenix Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Chevrolet and head to Fort Worth, TX, for the O’Reilly Challenge on Saturday, November 3, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the 1.5-mile quad-oval at Texas Motor Speedway for their first practice session on Friday, November 2nd, at 10:00 AM (ET), with final practice at 11:55 AM (ET). Qualifying is set for 6:35 PM (ET).
On Saturday, November 3rd, the O’Reilly Challenge NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace and the GECKO back in the top ten after wreck filled race in Memphis | | | | October 28, 2007 | | | | Webmaster@MikeWallace.com-Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet find themselves back in the top ten in the 2007 Busch series points standings after a 13th place finish in Memphis. The Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motor Speedway had more than its share of bangs and bumps as the caution flag was brought out 25 times for a total of 117 laps. Mike managed to avoid the big wreck, while watching others around him spin out several times. Memphis, TN (October 26, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet roll into Memphis Motorsports Park this weekend, they will be battling to return to the Top 10 in the point standings. itting just 22 points removed, they currently have GEICO in position to experience their best season in their seven years of nvolvement in NASCAR.
If there were a sentimental favorite when the NASCAR Busch Series returns to the Mid-South, it would have to be Mike Wallace. He has continued to battle and keep himself lingering around the Top 10 in the point standings in a series that is almost dominated by NEXTEL Cup drivers.
Traditionally referred to as a restrictor-plate specialist, Mike Wallace has a special place in his heart for short tracks. Wallace is the middle brother in the Wallace racing family that includes older brother, Rusty, and younger brother, Kenny. The Wallace family cut their teeth on short tracks in the Midwest and they have obviously parlayed their experiences into successful NASCAR careers.
Wallace enjoys racing in Memphis and always looks forward to returning to the historic .75-mile track. Memphis is a fun race for us to go to because I’ve always enjoyed running on short tracks,” Wallace said. “We only have a few races left in the season, so we’re working hard to wrap up the season on a strong, positive note.” He continued, “We’re also looking forward to visiting Beale Street and eating good barbecue and listening to some good Blue’s music and enjoying the Memphis atmosphere.”
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the .75-mile oval at Memphis Motorsports Park for their first practice session on Friday, October 26th, at 3:00 PM (ET), with final practice at 5:00 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Saturday morning at 10:35 AM (ET).

| | | | | | M. WALLACE & THE GECKO BRING HOME TOP 15 FINISH; PREPARE FOR 2ND WEEKEND OFF IN THREE WEEKS. | | | | October 13, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Contact: Doug Barnette
Concord, NC (October 12, 2007) – Lowe’s Motor Speedway would seem more like bumper cars than stock cars on Friday night, as the event would see ten caution flags before the evening ended. Fortunately for Mike Wallace, he would use his veteran experience to duck and move to miss multiple crashes and survive the Dollar General 300 and give GEICO their 7th Top 15 finish of the 2007 season.
When the GEICO Racing team arrived at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon to begin practice, they were cautiously optimistic. The car they were planning to use in Charlotte was an extremely fast car, but it was turned into scrap metal after a crash two weeks ago at Kansas Speedway. Unfortunately, practice would provide little consolation for the Phoenix Racing team, as they would sit 38th on the final speed charts in both practice sessions.
When qualifying concluded late Friday afternoon, Wallace and the Gecko would find themselves starting from the 32nd position, while teammate J.J. Yeley would be relegated to the back of the field after a crash in qualifying.
Starting 32nd would be of little consequence for Wallace, as he would battle hard and charge to the front of the field, narrowly avoiding several crashes. Despite the display of ten caution flags under the night sky, Wallace would safely maneuver his way around the 1.5-mile quad-oval and ultimately find himself running in the Top 5 before bringing the #7 GEICO Chevrolet home in the 15th position when the checkered flag waved over the legendary speedway.
The 15th place finish would help Wallace and the Gecko inch closer to the Top 10, as he sits just 22 points behind Matt Kenseth. Looking further up the chart, Wallace rests only 87 points behind Stephen Leicht in the 8th position.
“We were fortunate to get out of here tonight without tearing our stuff up and it was certainly a plus to be able to get a Top 15,” Wallace said. “Right now, it’s all about the points and we were able to close the gap tonight and we’re looking forward to getting to Memphis and getting back to where we need to be, which is in the Top 10. There’s no pressure here because this is what we do for a living and we’re good at it. Now we’ll focus on doing it better for the final four races.”
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet will enjoy a Saturday off this week, as the NASCAR Busch Series takes its second break in three weeks. They will return to action on October 27th, when they travel to Memphis, TN, for the Sam’s Town 250.

| | | | | | CHRISSY WALLACE TO APPEAR AT BOOKS-A-MILLION WITH MIKE HELTON, NED JARRETT AND BRETT BODINE | | | | October 12, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release

Office: (205) 985-8558 Mobile: (704) 507-3524
Concord, NC (October 11, 2007) – Chrissy Wallace’s year has been nothing less than exciting. While most girls her age are stressing over English 101 and attending college football games on Saturdays, this 19-year old racing sensation is busy winning races and making a name for herself in auto racing.
In 2007, Wallace recorded four Feature Division wins at Hickory Motor Speedway. She would then go on to record a third place finish in the point standings in Feature Division Bojangles’ Late Model Stocks and become the first female in history to become the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Rookie Of The Year. That, however, was not the first time she made history, as in June, while her Dad Mike Wallace was busy turning laps at Dover in the #7 GEICO Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series, she would become the first ever female in the track’s 57-year history to record a Feature Division Late Model Stocks win.
Now, as she starts to make solid progress on her way to becoming a NASCAR star she will start at the top, as she will be making an appearance on Friday, October 12th, at 2:00 PM (ET) with NASCAR President Mike Helton, Ned Jarrett and Brett Bodine at Books-A-Million at Concord Mills Mall in Concord, NC, to promote the book entitled, ‘NASCAR Family Album’. The book, written by Herb Branham and Buz McKim, focuses on the history of families within the sport of NASCAR.
Wallace is both flattered and humbled by the opportunity to share the stage with three of NASCAR’s best and brightest.
“Needless to say, this has been a very exciting year for my family and I, so something like this only enhances that excitement,” Wallace said. “To be invited to attend an event such as this and be able to sit next to people like Mike Helton, Ned Jarrett and Brett Bodine is humbling and I’m thankful for the opportunity. These are three people who have helped build this sport and it’s very exciting to be sitting next to them and discussing the history of families in NASCAR.”

Concord, NC (October 9, 2007) – The NASCAR Busch Series enjoyed a weekend off, however Mike Wallace cannot sit still, especially when a restrictor plate race track comes calling. While the rest of the Busch Series relaxed at home this past weekend, Wallace traveled to Talladega, Alabama, to participate in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the theme of the weekend for Wallace would be that he ran as well as any race car driver could run without actually winning a race.
Qualifying would go well in both series’, as Wallace would start 4th in the #03 Southeast Toyota Dealers Toyota Tundra for Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250 Truck Series race, and start 16th in the Robert Yates Racing #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion for the UAW-Ford 500 Nextel Cup Series race on Sunday.
On Saturday, Wallace would run up front, however he would experience issues that would send him to the back of the field for multiple re-starts. If there were an award for the most trucks passed in a two-hour period, Wallace would easily take the prize, as he would charge to the front time and time again. Unfortunately, with seven laps remaining, Wallace would find himself sideways and would be relegated to a 17th place finish after spending his afternoon up front and contending for a win.
When the green flag waved on Sunday at the legendary 2.66-mile tri-oval, Wallace would immediately drop to the back of the field with a host of other Fords as part of a strategy to avoid the ‘big one’ and be there at the end. That strategy would play well, as Wallace would find himself sitting in 6th position as the laps began to wind down. In position to pick up yet another restrictor plate victory, or at worst get a Top 5, Clint Bowyer would get into the back of Wallace and send him lightly into the wall with just a few laps remaining. Despite being ‘bounced’ out of the draft and into the wall, Wallace would manage to collect himself and the #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion and hustle back to a 19th place finish.
“I had a lot of fun this weekend and I just wish we could’ve picked up a win for both of these teams,” Wallace said. “I appreciate everything that both Germain Racing and Robert Yates Racing did to give me a chance to win these races, but most important, I am thankful to these guys for giving me the opportunity. Hopefully, Ricky (Rudd) will be back in the #88 car soon and I’m just glad I could help out and give this team a good run.” He continued, “This week we will turn our attention back to the #7 GEICO Chevrolet in the Busch Series and work hard to put ourselves in Victory Lane in Charlotte on Friday night.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team head just up the road to Charlotte, NC, for the Dollar General 300 NASCAR Busch Series race on Friday, October 12, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for their first practice session on Thursday, October 11th, at 1:00 PM (ET). Final practice is at 6:00 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Friday afternoon at 4:05 PM (ET).
On Saturday, the Dollar General 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 7:30 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 8:00 PM (ET). Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | Wallace frustrated GEICO bounced from Busch Series | | | | October 08, 2007 | | | | Team sponsor given two more years in sunset provision
By Mark Aumann, NASCAR.COM
October 6, 2007
05:23 PM EDT
TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Mike Wallace is subbing for the injured Ricky Rudd this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, but his focus is somewhere else.
With this week's announcement that Nationwide Insurance will be the new sponsor for NASCAR's No. 2 series, Wallace's Busch Series sponsor -- rival GEICO -- has been given two years to leave the series.
"I'm really frustrated about it, to be honest with you," Wallace said after Saturday's qualifying. "I guess they caught us all off-guard. We knew nothing about it.
"I originally thought, 'Well, that's no big deal. We'll be grandfathered in, just like Alltel was in the Cup deal.' Then all of a sudden, that changed. Hopefully, the sponsor will stay involved for the two years left in their contract and we'll make the best of it."
Nationwide agreed to a seven-year deal reportedly worth $10 million per year -- and was announced Wednesday as the replacement for Anheuser-Busch's Busch brand, beginning with the 2008 season. That means GEICO will have until the end of 2009 to determine its future in NASCAR, according to Steve Phelps, NASCAR's chief marketing officer.
"We are going to have a sunset provision," Phelps said. "It really is only affecting one outlet, and one company, and that would be GEICO. They will have a two-year provision, a two-year sunset, which we think will give those involved an opportunity to go elsewhere, and GEICO potentially to migrate up to what will become the Sprint Cup or the Craftsman Truck Series."
Wallace said he now expects to sit down with his sponsor to determine a plan for the immediate future.
"We had to basically do a fact-finding mission to find out what happened, why it happened this way, why it's not what we thought it was going to be and so forth," Wallace said. "I'm sure we'll all converse this coming week and let the sting of this settle a little bit for all of us.
"When you work really hard in this sport and in my situation, the agreement is between the driver and my company, to tell a sponsor that's been in the sport for seven years -- they were the first insurance company in this sport -- you would think you'd get a little more respect than that."
Wallace said GEICO has shown tremendous allegiance to the Busch Series in the past.
"They are the only sponsor presently that is doing television commercials around the Busch Series," he said. "Once they came into the sport, they forced other companies to step up to the table.
"They have single-handedly done more than anybody for the Busch Series. And that's the facts."
What might be a good deal for NASCAR doesn't always benefit individual teams, Wallace said. In his case, his future may hinge on finding a fully-funded sponsor to replace GEICO -- something that many teams are struggling to find.
"It's a shame that in a couple of years, they'll be locked out of the sport because I don't think it's good for the sport, personally," Wallace said. "The whole race world is driven off free enterprise and competition. Why don't you want to compete against your competition?
"My own belief is that they're good for the series even though there's another insurance company that's going to sponsor the series. I don't understand why they've got a problem with it. I'd rather have your competition now plugging your name, running around with a decal on the front fender of your car. It would be a plus for everybody."
Wallace said he has met with NASCAR officials, and understands their position. Still, that doesn't make things any easier when he thinks about how much is at stake.
"I had a conversation with Mike Helton late yesterday and he explained everything," Wallace said. "At least we have a focus on how it came to this decision and we can go back and discuss everything. I very much hope that we just continue for the next two years, win a bunch of races and figure out how it all shakes out in 2010.
"It is what it is. It's not going to change and we've got to try to make the best of that."

Talladega, AL (October 3, 2007) – While the rest of the NASCAR Busch Series will enjoy a much needed weekend off, Mike Wallace will travel to Talladega, AL, to tackle the historic 2.66-mile superspeedway. He will not only take on the high banks on Saturday in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, but he will battle it once again on Sunday in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.
On Saturday, Wallace, the driver of the #7 GEICO Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series, will pilot the #03 Southeast Toyota Dealers Toyota Tundra for Germain Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race; a race that Wallace nearly won a year ago while driving the GEICO Toyota Tundra. Unfortunately, Mike Skinner would hinder Wallace’s effort just a half a lap before the start/finish line on the final lap when he sent Wallace careening into the outside wall.
While the wreck ruined Wallace’s day at Talladega a year ago, it has not ruined his attitude as he returns to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.
“We had a great truck last year when we were here with the Gecko on the hood and we should’ve won the race,” Wallace said. “I’m a racer and I’ve been waiting for a year to get back here and redeem myself and get the win I could’ve gotten a year ago. I’m excited at the opportunity to represent the Southeast Toyota Dealers and drive the #03 Toyota Tundra in one of the biggest races of the year. Mike Hillman and the entire Germain team have worked really hard to give us a great truck and I’m looking forward to working with the team and putting ourselves in position to head to Victory Lane.”
Once the business of the Truck Series race has concluded, Wallace will turn his attention to the #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion for Sunday’s UAW-Ford 500 Nextel Cup Series race. As Ricky Rudd continues to recover from a shoulder injury which has kept him sidelined for the last five weeks, Wallace will hop in the Robert Yates Racing entry in hopes of recording his first Nextel Cup victory. The #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion paint scheme will promote the M&M’s Million Dollar Halloween Instant Win Game and Sweepstakes.
A restrictor plate specialist, Wallace has recorded an ARCA win at Talladega, and he has also notched three wins at another restrictor plate track, the famed Daytona International Speedway. In February 2003, Wallace etched his name in the record books at Daytona when he recorded three Top 10 finishes in three days in three different series and driving for three different manufacturers: 6th in a Chevrolet in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, 4th in a Pontiac in the NASCAR Busch Series race and 9th in a Dodge in NASCAR Nextel Cup’s Daytona 500. He is now eager to hit the high banks of Talladega and get his first Nextel Cup win at the 2.66-mile tri-oval.
“I have always had a lot of success on restrictor plate tracks, so I always look forward to Talladega and the opportunity to win a race,” Wallace said. “I’m thankful to the entire Yates organization for giving me this opportunity to drive the #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion and I look forward to running well and being up front at the end.”
Being up front at the end is key, as Wallace proved in February when he recorded a 4th place finish in the Daytona 500.
Mike Wallace and the #03 Southeast Toyota Dealers Toyota Tundra will hit the track at Talladega Superspeedway for their first practice on Thursday, October 4th, at 1:10 PM (ET), with final practice at 3:20 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Friday, October 5th, at 1:10 PM (ET).
On Saturday, October 6, 2007, the Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race will be televised live on SPEED with coverage beginning at 3:30 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 4:00 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
Mike Wallace and his #88 M&M’s Halloween Ford Fusion will debut their special paint scheme when practice starts at 12:00 PM (ET) on Friday, October 5th. Final practice is at 3:45 PM (ET), with qualifying schedule for Saturday afternoon at 12:15 PM (ET).
On Sunday, October 7, 2007, the UAW-Ford 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race will be televised live on ABC beginning at 1:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 2:00 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Kansas City, KS (September 29, 2007) – After leading ten laps in Dover and recording a 13th place finish at one of NASCAR’s most challenging race tracks, Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Racing team looked forward to visiting Kansas Speedway in hopes of picking up more ground in the points chase. While things would get off to a bright start, it provided only false hope, as the Gecko would later battle challenges that would provide him an opportunity to beat the race traffic.
When the Phoenix Racing team unloaded the #7 GEICO Chevrolet for the first practice of the weekend on Friday, they would be encouraged by the results. Wallace would land 15th on the speed charts when the first practice session ended, however both Mike Wallace and his crew chief, Gere Kennon, felt as though they could find more speed.
They would prove to be prophetic, as Wallace and the Gecko would pick up six spots on the charts from first practice and rest in the 9th position when the final practice concluded on Friday evening.
Qualifying would be held on Saturday morning under a cooler sky and temperatures and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet drew the 32nd qualifying position. Unfortunately, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would betray the speed it showed in the final practice session, when Wallace toured the facility in 31.931 seconds, at a rate of speed of 169.115 miles per hour, which would be good for the 20th starting spot for the Yellow Transportation 300 on Saturday afternoon.
When the green flag waved in front of a packed track in Kansas City, KS, Wallace began to move to the front of the field before smoke began to billow from the rear of the #7 GEICO Chevrolet on Lap 15. Lap 16 would find Wallace and the Gecko making a trip down pit road to investigate the problem, which would ultimately be a broken oil line. Unfortunately, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would be forced behind the wall to repair the problem, and would not return until Lap 36, where they would find themselves 21 laps down.
Wallace’s day would not get any easier, when he would find himself hitting the wall hard on Lap 89. Severely damaging the car, the Gecko would leave the race early and be relegated to a 41st place finish. However, more painful is that Wallace and the Gecko would fall out of the Top 10 and drop to 11th in the point standings for the first time since the spring. Despite the rough day in Kansas, Wallace sits just 70 points removed from the Top 10, just behind Matt Kenseth.
“It’s a shame because the weekend started off great in practice and we qualified well, but the oil line issue really caused a problem,” Wallace said. “This kind of stuff is tough because we all work so hard to come out here and run well and we have a fast car and then before we know it we have an oil line problem early and then wreck on Lap 89. We look forward to getting to Charlotte and getting back on track.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before traveling just up the road to Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday night, October 12th for the Dollar General 300.

Concord, NC (September 25, 2007) – Imagine Chrissy Wallace sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner and she looks around the table and there is Uncle Kenny, a proven NASCAR driver, Uncle Rusty, who is a NASCAR Champion, and her dad, Mike, a driver who has recorded three wins in Daytona.
Most people would feel as though that is a lot of pressure if you are a young member of the Wallace family that has chosen racing as a livelihood, especially if you are a female.
But not Chrissy Wallace. She scoffs at the notion. Instead, the young Wallace goes out and records four Feature Division wins at Hickory Motor Speedway, in 2007 alone. Her most recent trip to Victory Lane would come just a few days ago when she took command late in the race to end the 2007 Feature Division Bojangles’ Late Model Stocks season and record a third place finish in the point standings.
While Chrissy Wallace made history at Hickory Motor Speedway in June when she became the first ever female to win a Feature Division Late Model Stocks event in the track’s 57-year history, she did not halt her assault on the record books. When the checkered flag waved in Hickory on September 22nd, Wallace also became the first female in the track’s history to record Rookie honors, as she became the 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Rookie of the Year.
Lest we forget that prior to her entry into stock cars, Wallace won in everything from Legends cars to Thunder Roadsters to Arena Racing.
Chrissy’s father, Mike Wallace, who led 10 laps in the NASCAR Busch Series race in Dover on Saturday before recording a 13th place finish in the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, was moved by his daughter’s accomplishments.
“It’s hard to find the words to say because it’s such a big deal and it’s so important for her career that it’s hard to quantify with words,” Wallace said. “I’m extremely happy for her because people kept telling her that she needed to prove herself and now she’s done that.”
As Chrissy Wallace sits with four wins and Rookie of the Year honors, she turns her attention to the business of the future. She looks forward to ultimately moving to NASCAR’s big three – the Craftsman Truck Series, the Busch Series and the Nextel Cup Series.
“I’m very happy because I was able to go out and win races and prove that I can drive a stock car,” Wallace said. “This is very exciting for me, my car owner, Robby Hamke, and Alan Johnson, who builds our motors. I can’t thank these guys enough for all they’ve done for me. Our sponsors, Smith Transport, Lucas Oil and Tony Stewart have been an important part of our program and we’re extremely appreciative of their involvement. My family has provided me with tremendous support as well and now we’re excited about what my future holds.”
She continued, “Obviously, I would like to move up to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the Busch Series and then, eventually, to Cup, and I’m going to continue to work hard and do whatever it takes to move to the next level.”

Dover, DE (September 22, 2007) – Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet re-visited Dover International Speedway this weekend looking to redeem themselves following a Spring race in Dover that ended with Wallace being knocked out of the race by a car that was a lap down. Just 90-miles from GEICO’s corporate office, Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team were looking to run up front and get a good finish in the Gecko’s backyard.
When the practice sessions concluded on Friday, Wallace and the Gecko would sit 20th and 16th respectively on the speed charts. Wallace was happy with the car and informed crew chief Gere Kennon that he felt the car would race well.
Unfortunately, it would not qualify well, as Wallace would tour the 1-mile oval in 24.225 seconds, at a rate of speed of 148.607, relegating him to the 32nd starting spot. He would start just behind nephew, Steven Wallace, and just ahead of Nextel Cup star, Matt Kenseth.
When the green flag waved at the Monster Mile, Wallace would waste little time moving the #7 GEICO Chevrolet forward, as he would find himself in the Top 20 in just 15 laps. His day would continue to get better, as the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would soon find itself at the front of the field where Wallace would lead 10 laps and run consistently in the Top 5. Wallace would ultimately fall victim to old tires, but was still able to record a 13th place finish in the RoadLoans.com 200.
With only 6 races remaining in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season, Wallace and the Gecko currently sit 10th in the point standings, just 30 points behind Stephen Leicht in the 9th position.
“We were very competitive today and the Phoenix Racing team did a good job of keeping the #7 GEICO Chevrolet up front,” Wallace said. “We were able to lead 10 laps and run up front and get good exposure for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport and that is what this sport is about. We’re excited to get to Kansas and pick up ground in the point standings and keep moving up.”
This week, The Phoenix Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Chevrolet and head to Kansas City, KS, for the Yellow Transportation 300 on Saturday, September 29, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Kansas Speedway for their first practice on Friday, September 28th, at 2:15 PM (ET), with final practice at 5:45 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Saturday, September 29th, at 11:05 AM (ET).
On Saturday, September 29, 2007, the Yellow Transportation 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Dover, DE (September 20, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet return to Dover International Speedway this weekend, they will have the Gecko close to home. GEICO’s corporate headquarters is located in Washington, DC, just 90-miles from the Monster Mile.
If there was a sentimental favorite, it would have to be Mike Wallace, as Dover International Speedway is also the site of his first career NASCAR Busch Series win.
Wallace enjoys racing at Dover and always looks forward to returning to the historic 1-mile speedway.
“Dover is a special place for me because I’ve always enjoyed racing there,” Wallace said. “GEICO’s corporate office is only a couple of hours away, so we always use this race to connect with the associates at GEICO and we enjoy having them out at the track over the course of the race weekend. It’s almost like a home game of sorts and we take great pride in going there and running well.”
He continued, “During the spring race we were running up front and looking forward to a Top 5 or Top 10 finish, but then we had our day shortened by a car that was a lap down. We’re excited about bringing the #7 GEICO Chevrolet back to the Monster Mile and redeeming ourselves. We want to continue to get GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport as much media exposure as possible.”
Wallace’s last win was nothing less than spectacular, when he passed Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on the final lap in Daytona on July 2, 2004, to win the Winn-Dixie 250. The win in Daytona was Wallace’s third at the famed 2.5-mile super speedway, but he took great pride in handing both GEICO and Sport Clips their first NASCAR Busch Series victories.
As Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team return to Dover with the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, they look forward to not only running well, but hopefully duplicating that exciting night in July 2004 when the Gecko made his first trip to Victory Lane.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Dover International Speedway for their first practice on Friday, September 21st, at 9:00 AM (ET). Final practice is at 1:50 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday at 12:05 PM (ET).
On Saturday, September 22nd, the RoadLoans.com 200 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Richmond, VA (September 7, 2007) – On Friday night in Richmond, VA, Wallace went as far as to call in the troops to help the Gecko run up front. Wallace was joined under the lights by Army Master Sergeant John Hall, who is a Green Beret in the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC. Master Sergeant Hall recently returned from a fourth tour in Afghanistan and has four Bronze Star Medals.
While practice would not be kind to Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, as they would finish 27th and 24th in the respective sessions, Wallace said the car felt good and that it would race well. Qualifying would not be any nicer to Wallace, as he would find himself starting from the 38th position, just behind teammate J.J. Yeley in the #1 Miccosukee Chevrolet.
When the race got underway under the lights at Richmond International Raceway, Wallace would make progress, as he predicted following practice. He would move to the front of the field and even find himself as the race leader, where he would lead three laps before front end damage from a collision with the #18 Car would take its toll on the #7 GEICO Chevrolet. He would continue to battle hard and ultimately record a 31st place finish at the .75-mile D-shaped oval.
While Richmond proved to be tough on Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, they still sit 10th in the point standings. With just 7 races remaining in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season, Wallace and the Gecko hold a 106 point lead over Matt Kenseth who rests in the 11th position.
“It’s obviously very frustrating because the #7 GEICO Chevrolet was running really well until we got caught up with the 18 car,” Wallace said. “Luckily, it just hurt us enough to keep us from running up front and it didn’t knock us out of the race, so we were able to finish the race and maintain our position in the point standings.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team will enjoy a weekend off before they pack up the #7 GEICO Chevrolet and head to Dover, DE, for the September 22nd race at Dover International Speedway.

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Finds Redemption in Fontanta Heading for the Gecko's Backyard | | | | September 05, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release

Office: (205) 985-8558 Mobile: (704) 507-3524
Fontana, CA (September 1, 2007) – After a rough weekend in Bristol, TN, Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet were looking forward to seeking redemption in Southern California. While they sit comfortably in the Top 10 in the point standings, Wallace and the Gecko eagerly desire to make up points and move further up the point standings before season’s end.
Once the #7 GEICO Chevrolet was unloaded at California Speedway, Wallace would quickly get up to speed despite temperatures in excess of 105-degrees. At the end of the first practice session, the Gecko would find himself sitting 7th on the speed charts, just behind Jeff Burton and slightly ahead of Denny Hamlin. The second practice session would also be quick for the Phoenix Racing team, however Wallace would fall off a bit to wind up 14th on the speed charts when the final practice concluded.
Unfortunately, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would draw the #1 spot for qualifying at the hot and steamy 2-mile D-shaped oval, which would send them out on a track that would be nothing less than hot and slick. While most cars found it difficult to maneuver the slippery speedway, Wallace and the Gecko would get comfortable and tour the speedway in 40.858 seconds at a speed of 176.220 MPH. When the red flag waved on qualifying, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would find itself starting in the 19th position.
If there were an award for the most cars passed in a single race, Mike Wallace would have secured a comfortable victory. In one of the most eventful races of the year for Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, he would lead the race, take multiple trips to back of the field, drive 60 laps with no helmet cooler in 100-degree heat because of an alternator issue, and ultimately go off-road into the infield grass before finally taking the checkered flag in the sweltering heat in SoCal.
During the early stages of the race, under the event’s first caution, crew chief, Gere Kennon, would radio to Wallace to pit out of sequence and come in for fuel in order to help with track position later on in the race. Once Wallace departed the pits, he would be forced to start at the rear of the field, as most cars did not make the trip down pit road.
When the green flag waved to re-start the action, he would immediately move to the front of the field and settle in until he was forced to pit again later in the race due to an alternator issue. During the pit stop, the Phoenix Racing pit crew would replace the battery and return Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet to the track in good time. However, Wallace would once again be relegated to the rear of the field, where he would once again work his way back to the front.
During a late-race incident, Wallace would become part and parcel to the action and find himself taking a trip through the infield grass before flat spotting all four of his tires and being forced to head down pit road to take on four new Goodyear tires. Fittingly, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would yet again find themselves at the back of the field, where they would battle to get to the front and finally record a 16th place finish under the lights in the Southern California heat.
“I’m worn out to say the least,” Wallace joked after completing what appeared to be an endurance race for the Phoenix Racing team. “We battled just about everything tonight and still managed to finish 16th. I think this says a lot about the guys on this #7 GEICO team and our perseverance, and now we’re looking forward to getting to Richmond, which is in GEICO’s backyard, and getting a good finish.”
Wallace and the Gecko reside comfortably in the Top 10 in the point standings, sitting in the 10th spot, just 55 points shy of Greg Biffle in the 9th position.
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, VA, for the Emerson Radio 250 on Friday, September 7, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the .75-mile D-shaped oval for their first practice session on Friday, September 7th, at 8:30 AM (ET), with final practice at 10:10 AM (ET). Qualifying is set for Friday afternoon at 4:05 PM (ET).
On Friday night, September 7th, the Emerson Radio 250 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 7:30 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 8:00 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Concord, NC (August 29, 2007) – While Friday night in Bristol was frustrating for Mike Wallace and the entire GEICO Racing team, one thing remains the same and that is they still reside in the Top 10 in the point standings in the NASCAR Busch Series. In a series almost dominated by NEXTEL Cup drivers, Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team have been able to maintain their position in the Top 10 and with nine races to go, hope to continue their ascent.
There have been some bumps in the road for Wallace and the Gecko this season, as they led in Talladega before losing the motor and then a week later in Richmond they would lose another motor. Nashville would find them at the front of the field before another mechanical problem would sideline them and knock them out of contention for a race win. During the spring race in Bristol, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet was in the Top 5 in position to win the race before a NASCAR ruling would send them back to 17th, and subsequently result in Wallace being part and parcel to a crash that would, once again, end his run for a race win.
Regardless, Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team are not fazed and they keep working hard to improve the racing program.
“Of course we’re not satisfied with where we are right now, but this team keeps working hard and we’re going to continue to do what we can to win races and run up front,” Wallace said. “We have great sponsors in GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport, and we have a great team, but we’ve run into some bad luck this year. If not for a couple motor issues and getting wrecked out in Bristol in the spring race, then we’re sitting in the Top 5 right now. But, that’s racing and we also know that things swing the other way, so we’re going to continue to work hard until we run into the good luck.”
He continued, “Let’s not forget that even with all of the issues that we’ve had, we’re still sitting in the Top 10 in points. I think that says something about this Phoenix Racing team and me as a driver. We’re here to compete each week and we’re focused on racing hard and getting desired results. Until that checkered flag waves at Homestead in November, we will be collectively getting after it and doing what needs to be done.”
Among other things, the addition of crew chief Gere Kennon has proved fruitful and the team improved almost instantly upon his arrival.
“Gere is a great crew chief and he’s worked out very well for us,” Wallace said. “Starting a second team is tough and I appreciate everything that James Finch (team owner) has done to try to help us improve, including, among other things, bringing in Gere. We have nine races left, so we’re going to make a run at it and make good things happen.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to California Speedway in Fontana, California, for the Camping World 300 on Saturday, September 1, 2007.

Brooklyn, MI (August 18, 2007) – With Detroit being the home of the big three automakers, the Michigan race is exciting on many levels. Mike Wallace, who drives the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, was looking forward to helping Chevrolet make progress in the manufacturer’s championship.
Wallace’s #7 GEICO Chevrolet was good in practice on Friday and while the first practice found him 25th on the charts, he would improve in the final practice to 22nd. Wallace said the car felt good and the Phoenix Racing team set their sights on qualifying, which was scheduled for Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would pace the 2-mile D-shaped oval in 39.466 seconds, at a rate of 182.436 MPH during qualifying. The Gecko would find itself starting in the 23rd position, sandwiched between Mark Martin, who started 22nd, and Tony Stewart, who would start the race in the 24th position.
When the green flag waved in the Irish Hills of Michigan, Wallace would make little progress, but he would continue to battle throughout the race. At one point, the #7 GEICO Chevrolet found itself in the Top 15, but would struggle to maintain its position. Although the motor would prove to be off, Wallace would still manage to turn some of the fastest laps of the race. However, when the sun set on Michigan International Speedway, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would take the checkered flag in the 23rd position.
“This is very disappointing for us today because we felt we were going to be pretty good here and the car felt good in practice and qualifying,” Wallace said after the race. “Unfortunately, the motor was down on horsepower during the race and we had to struggle just to get the 23rd place finish. The team did a good job all weekend and I’m looking forward to getting to Bristol next week. We ran great there in the Spring and had ourselves in position to win the race.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, for the Food City 250 on Friday, August 24, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the half-mile oval at Bristol Motor Speedway for their first practice session on Friday, August 24th, at 9:00 AM (ET), with final practice at 10:15 AM (ET). Qualifying is set for Friday afternoon at 4:35 PM (ET).
On Friday night, August 24th, the Food City 250 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 7:30 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 8:00 PM (ET). Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Watkins Glen, NY (August 11, 2007) – Heading to Watkins Glen International in the finger lakes region of New York, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team would race on their second road course in as many weeks. Hoping to make up ground in the point standings, Wallace would look for a solid run in the Zippo 200 on Saturday.
The first practice session on Friday would be interrupted by rain showers and would be shortened by NASCAR. The second practice session would be cancelled altogether and leave the Phoenix Racing team weary as to the proper set up of the #7 GEICO Chevrolet heading into qualifying.
NASCAR used a road race style of qualifying which would send Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet out on the course in a group of cars, rather than the typical one car at a time qualifying found on the oval tracks. When qualifying concluded at the 2.45-mile road course, Wallace would find himself starting from the 30th position, just behind Indy race winner Jason Leffler.
A restrictor-plate ace, Wallace would carefully maneuver his way around the famed road course in an effort to collect points and survive a race that sent stars such as Juan Pablo Montoya, Carl Edwards and Max Papis to the garage early. Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would survive the final road course race of the season and record a 26th place finish, which would help Wallace bump up to 9th in the point standings.
“This obviously was not one of our better races, but we were able to stay clean, finish the race and move up one spot in the points to 9th,” Wallace said. “Next week we get back to circle track racing and I’m looking forward to getting the #7 GEICO Chevrolet back up front where we need to be.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan for the Carfax 250 on Saturday, August 18, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Michigan International Speedway for their first practice session on Friday, August 17th, at 1:10 PM (ET), with final practice at 4:45 PM (ET). Qualifying is set for Saturday at 11:10 AM (ET).
On Saturday, August 18th, the Carfax 250 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

Montreal, Quebec (August 4, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team rolled into Circuit Gilles Villenueve in Montreal, they had plans of picking up spots in the points chase and turning in a good finish. It was NASCAR’s first venture north of the border and it proved to be successful as over 100,000 fans filled the stands each day to watch NASCAR’s best and brightest turn laps on the challenging 2.71-mile road course.
Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team took their time on Thursday during the NASCAR open practice sessions trying to figure out the course. When the red flag ended the final open practice session, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would sit 27th on the practice charts. Their due diligence paid off when Wallace posted the 14th fastest practice time during final practice on Friday afternoon.
The NASCAR Busch Series would utilize a road racing qualifying format when the cars hit the track on Saturday afternoon to qualify for the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge. Wallace would go out in the 6th group of cars and would ultimately qualify 28th for the 74 lap/200-mile race.
When the green flag waved in front of a sold out crowd of 150,000 passionate fans, Wallace made calculated moves to the front of the field, while also monitoring his brakes and taking care of his equipment. At a challenging road course such as Circuit Gilles Villenueve, brakes play a critical role in the strategy of the race and Wallace would do a good job of conserving, while still advancing.
Wallace would run as high as 8th before a fuel problem that occurred just past the midway point of the race would send the #7 GEICO Chevrolet behind the wall and into the garage. The Phoenix Racing team worked diligently to repair the problem and they returned Wallace to the race just five laps down. Wallace would end up recording a 27th place finish when the checkered flag waved over the 2.71-mile road course.
“It was a tough day and that’s about all I can say,” Wallace said. “We raced really hard and even got into the Top 10, but the fuel problem ruined our day. Our only saving grace was that the Phoenix Racing guys worked hard to get it fixed and we were able to return to the race only five laps down, which allowed us to gain some points and helped us stay in the Top 10.”
Despite the setback suffered by Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet in Montreal, Wallace remains in the Top 10 in the point standings, dropping just one spot from 9th to 10th. He sits just 12 points behind Dave Blaney who is in 9th and 66 points ahead of Greg Biffle who resides in the 11th position.
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team head to Watkins Glen, NY, for the Zippo 200 at The Glen on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Watkins Glen International for their first practice on Friday, August 10th, at 1:30 PM (ET). Final practice is at 5:30 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday at 11:35 AM (ET).
On Saturday, the Zippo 200 at The Glen NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

| | | | | | MATES WALLACE AND PAPIS FIND SPEED IN FINAL NASCAR PRACTICE | | | | August 04, 2007 | | | | Montreal, Quebec (August 3, 2007) – After topping the speed charts on Thursday at Circuit Gilles Villenueve, 2004 Rolex Grand-Am Series champion ‘Mad Max’ Papis came out for practice in the #1 Miccosukee Gaming & Resorts Chevrolet blazing as he once again sat at the top of the speed charts after practice concluded on Friday afternoon. However, he was not alone, as his teammate Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet found some speed and made a significant improvement from Thursday’s open practice sessions.
Papis, who sat 6th on the charts after Thursday’s final practice session concluded, said that he believed that the guys at Phoenix Racing were working hard and could find more speed in the #1 Miccosukee Chevrolet. It was a prophetic statement, as Papis would sit 4th on the final practice chart, ahead of road racing aces Ron Fellows, Boris Said and Scott Pruett, when the red flag waved to end the final practice session on Friday afternoon.
Wallace’s story was not as good on Thursday during the open practice sessions, as he and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet struggled to find speed at the 2.71-mile road course and would subsequently finish 27th on the speed charts. Friday would be a new day, however, for the GEICO Racing team because Wallace would find his groove in the final practice session and put the Gecko 14th on the final practice sheet.
Papis was happy with the car and the success in the final practice session and he looks forward to the race.
“The guys at Phoenix Racing have given me a good car and they worked extremely hard to help the #1 Miccosukee Gaming & Resorts Chevrolet be in the Top 5 in the final practice session,” Papis said. “I’m also happy to see that Mike (Wallace) and the GEICO car are up there as well. We’re all working really hard as a team to make sure both of our cars are up front on Saturday afternoon when the green flag waves.”
Wallace shares Papis’s enthusiasm and plans on making up ground in the points chase. He currently sits 9th in the point standings, but sits just 27 points removed from the 8th position.
“We got a lot better in the final session today and the car felt so much better,” Wallace said. “The guys are working hard and that’s what we need. We had an issue with the rear gear and we rebounded from that and put the #7 GEICO Chevrolet 14th on the charts after being 27th yesterday. This race is a great opportunity for us to pick up more spots in the points chase, so our goal is to go out and run well and finish at the front of the field.”
Qualifying for the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge will be Saturday, August 4th, at 12:10 PM (ET).

| | | | | | M. WALLACE 9TH IN POINTS AFTER INDY; LOOKING FORWARD TO THE GREAT WHITE NORTH | | | | July 31, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Indianapolis, IN (July 28, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team unloaded the #7 GEICO Chevrolet at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Saturday morning, they hit the ground running. Having experienced previous success in Indianapolis, Wallace looked forward to the Kroger 200 benefitting Riley Hospital for Children and planned to make progress in the points chase.
Practice would go well for Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet, as they would find themselves 17th on the speed charts following the first practice session. Improving four positions in final practice, the Gecko would sit 13th when the red flag ended the final session.
During qualifying, Wallace would tour the .686- mile oval in 22.909 seconds, at a speed of 107.800 MPH, which would place him to the inside of Row 10 when they lined up to go short-track racing under the lights on Saturday night.
Wallace’s position in the Top 10 in the point standings would have him featured on ESPN2’s pre-race show prior to Saturday night’s race.
Starting 19th, Wallace would find his car racy, as he would work his way to the front of the field. In front of the sold out crowd, he would run as high as 9th before his car would drop off and he would find it hard to make progress late in the race. After beating and banging, Wallace would battle to secure a 20th place finish when the checkered flag waved over the historic race track on Saturday night.
Mike Wallace and the Gecko still sit in the Top 10 in points in the 9th position, and actually stretched out their lead on Marcos Ambrose, who now sits 43 points behind Wallace in the 10th position. Wallace made progress in reaching the Top 5 and now sits just 27 points removed from the 8th spot.
This week, Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team head to Circuit Gilles Villenueve, a road course, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for their second trip over the border this season. The NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge is on Saturday, August 4, 2007.
“Indianapolis was tough, so we’re lucky to get out of there with a Top 20 and still 9th in points,” Wallace said. “I always enjoy road course racing and I’m looking forward to getting to Montreal with the #7 GEICO Chevrolet and picking up spots in the points chase.” He continued, “In Montreal, I have a great teammate in Max Papis and he and I have been spending a lot of time talking about the course and how we’re going to get to the front of the field.”
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Circuit Gilles Villenueve in Montreal for their first practice on Thursday, August 2nd, at 9:00 AM (ET), with final practice at 2:05 PM (ET) on Friday. Qualifying is set for Saturday afternoon at 12:10 PM (ET).
On Saturday, August 4th, the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM (ET) and green flag action coming at 3:30 PM (ET). Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
| | | | | | Mike Wallace & the Gecko Back in the Top 10 After Gateway; Heading to the Circle City | | | | July 24, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Madison, IL (July 21, 2007) – Mike Wallace and the rest of the Wallace family would return home to St. Louis on Saturday to attempt to please a supportive hometown crowd who has eagerly anticipated their return. Amid a myriad of media events, including an interview on ESPN’s NASCAR Now, Wallace would turn his attention to racing when practice started on Friday afternoon, hoping to put the Gecko back in the Top 10 in the point standings.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would be on the fast track in both practice sessions, as they would appear 17th and 18th on the speed charts. While he looked forward to qualifying, his excitement would be quickly quelled when his trip around the 1.25-mile oval would have him starting 32nd for the Gateway 250.
Featured as one of ESPN's in-race reporters, Wallace would impress the hometown crowd as he would narrowly miss multiple crashes and soon find himself at the front of the field. The Phoenix Racing team would do a good job of keeping Wallace up front, as they turned out quick pit stops and kept the momentum moving for the #7 GEICO Chevrolet. Wallace would run in the Top 10 before finishing 12th and helping put the Gecko back in the Top 10 in the point standings.
While Mike Wallace was one of three members of the Wallace family racing on Saturday night, he would be the only one that would finish the race, as both Kenny and Steven would fall victim to separate crashes that would prematurely end their evening.
Wallace’s Top 15 finish would put him back in the Top 10 in points, where he currently resides in the 9th position, picking up three positions from the previous week. Just a few weeks ago, Wallace sat uncomfortably outside of the Top 10 by over 100 points, but now sits only 39 points removed from the 8th position.
“Needless to say, I’m happy about being back in the Top 10 because we’ve worked really hard to get back to where we need to be,” Wallace said. “It was nice to come home to St. Louis and do so many media events and get GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport additional media exposure and reciprocate everything they do for us. The Phoenix Racing team has done a good job of getting this #7 GEICO Chevrolet back to the front of the field and as we head to Indy next week we are looking forward to picking up more ground on the points chase and making sure we're where we need to be at the end of the season.”

| | | | | | Mike Wallace Takes Another Step Toward the Top Ten in the Windy City; Preparing to Return Home to St. Louis | | | | July 17, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Joliet, IL (July 14, 2007) – When Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Racing team blew into the Windy City this weekend, they carried momentum from Daytona as they moved closer to returning to the Top 10 in the point standings after leaving the famed 2.5-mile tri-oval last week.
With new veteran crew chief, Gere Kennon, in his third week of work, Mike Wallace hit the Chicagoland Speedway in a fast way during practice. Qualifying would also be quick for Wallace, but unfortunately the car would bottom out on his final lap causing him to lose a couple tenths of a second and force him to start in the 39th position for the USG Durock 300.
When the green flag waved at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval, Wallace made steady progress towards the front of the field. He would consistently run the same lap times as the leader and would be relentless in his pursuit to get to the front of the field, eventually working his way into the Top 5. The Phoenix Racing pit crew would play an intricate role in getting Wallace up front, as they routinely provided quick pit stops for the #7 GEICO Chevrolet. Wallace would take the checkered flag in the 18th position after improving 21 spots from his starting position of 39th.
With the Top 20 finish, Wallace and the Gecko would inch closer to the Top 10 in the point standings. Just a month ago, they sat over 100 points removed, but in recent weeks they have managed to turn in solid runs and significantly narrow the gap. Wallace sits just 8 points behind Matt Kenseth in the 11th spot and 11 points behind Marcos Ambrose, who rests in the 10th position.
“We had a good car this weekend and obviously we were able to run fast and pick up a lot of positions during the race,” Wallace said. “The Phoenix Racing team did a good job of getting the #7 GEICO Chevrolet prepared for the race and it was nice to have a good run and get up front. We were also able to pick up a lot of points and move closer to getting back in the Top 10. Now we’ll keep working hard and head to my hometown of St. Louis and do our best to get GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport back in the Top 10 and make the hometown fans proud.”
This week, Mike Wallace and the Phoenix Racing team head to St. Louis, MO, for the Gateway 250 on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Gateway International Raceway for their first practice on Friday, July 20th, at 7:00 PM (ET). Final practice is at 9:00 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday at 4:35 PM (ET).

Daytona Beach, FL (July 7, 2007) – While the NASCAR Busch Series planned to race on Friday night, Mother Nature would have other plans as she dumped rain on Daytona International Speedway until NASCAR was finally forced to call it off. NASCAR would reschedule the race for Saturday morning which would provide a challenging environment for all of the teams because rather than racing in cooler temperatures at night for which their cars were set up, they would be racing in the sun and heat.
On Friday afternoon, Wallace would qualify the #7 GEICO Chevrolet 30th, however NASCAR would force him to the back of the field for the race, as the Phoenix Racing team would need to make an adjustment to the car after an oil problem in qualifying. At Daytona this is of little consequence because Wallace is known as a restrictor plate specialist and can easily recover from the setback.
If there is an award for passing the most cars, Mike Wallace and the Gecko will win it. When the green flag waved on 7/7/07, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet would start the race from the 40th position and spend almost half of the race in the rear of the field with Carl Edwards and other NASCAR notables as they waited for the ‘real’ race to begin when the race approached the halfway point.
Just after the midway point of the race, Wallace would charge to the front of the field and quickly find himself in the 4th position before moving up to the 2nd position soon thereafter. The Phoenix Racing pit crew would crank out great pit stops all day, but they would top themselves with 25 laps to go when Wallace pitted under caution and they sent him out 12 positions better than when he entered the pits.
Wallace would battle up front and after picking up 25 positions, he would finish the race 15th. This would be good enough to bump him up one spot in the points to the 13th position and leave just a narrow margin of 26 points to reach the Top 10. While a few weeks ago he sat over 100 points removed from the Top 10, Wallace has closed the gap and eyes it closely.
“We had a good car today and the Phoenix Racing team worked hard to get it ready for the race,” Wallace said. “It was incredible how well the #7 GEICO Chevrolet ran on its own out of the draft. We battled hard and ran up front and as the draft would have it we finished 15th, but we were actually much better than that. Daytona is a funny place and it can quickly hurt you, but we had a good run today and we moved up one spot in the points.”
Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevrolet will return to action on July 14, 2007, when they travel to Chicago, Illinois, for the USG Durock 300.
Mike Wallace and his #7 GEICO Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS will hit the track at Chicagoland Speedway when practice starts at 2:10 PM (ET) on Friday, July 13th. Final practice is at 5:45 PM (ET), followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 11:05 AM (ET).
The USG Durock 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:30 PM (ET) on Saturday, July 14, 2007, with green flag action coming at 3:00 PM (ET). Milwaukee Mile – Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevy started the AT&T 250 in the 20th position. Since most of the Cup drivers were in California for the cup race it was a great opportunity for the team to gain positions in the points. Mike is former winner at Milwaukee and always gets around the track well. The first caution flag flew at lap 33. Mike pitted for four tires and came out in the 20th position. The race went green again at lap 40 and Mike immediately started moving up through the field.
The caution flew again 6 laps later and the #7 GEICO Chevy was in the 16th position. The race went green for a long time. The #7 was great on the long run because by lap 110 Mike was as fast as the leader and running in 13th place. When the caution flew on lap 120 Mike was in the 13th place and Carl Edwards was the leader. Mike came out of the pits in 14th position. The race went green for 10 laps and on lap 145 when the caution flag flew Mike was in the 13th position. Mike pitted for 4 tires. The leaders stayed out so when Mike came out he was in the 14th position. However this gave him newer tires than the leaders.
The #7 GEICO Chevy team’s call was perfect because 16 laps later the caution flew and Mike came to pit road for fuel only. He came out of the pits as the leader. The race went green on lap 170. Mike had lap cars that held him up and Denny Hamlin went three wide to lead. Mike led for 6 laps, however his older tires started to give up and when caution flew on lap 222 he had fallen back to 12th. The #7 team took four tires and came out in the 14th position. The race went green on lap 226. The race was wild for three laps and Mike and the 42 got together and sent the 42 spinning up the track. When the caution flew Mike was in 13th position.
The 8th caution flag came out with 7 to go. Mike was in the 12th position. The restart happened with 4 to go and Mike gained another spot to finish in 11th place. Great run for the #7 GEICO Chevy team as they moved up 3 positions in Busch series points.
Next week the team goes to New Hampshire and will be looking for another great finish on a very similar track.

Mike did a great job early but then it happened and he got caught up in wreck. That put him two laps down and the team never could recover. The team ran times with the leaders however, the early trouble was the story of the night and Mike finished 25th. Congratulations to Steven Leicht on his first career win.

This made for a bad ending for what was a pretty good day. Mike and the #7 GEICO came home in the 33rd position.

Charlotte, North Carolina Lowes Motor Speedway - Mike started 26th in the Carquest Auto Parts 300. On Lap 28 Reed Sorenson wrecked the # 41 dodge. Mike hit the pits and took 2 tires and fuel. He went in 29th and came out 18th. The two tires was a great call and by the time Mike came to pits the next time under green he was running in the third position. However then a problem in the pits cost the team huge track position. Mike restarted in the 35th position and drove hard to recover and finished the race in the 23rd position. | | | | | | Frustration at Richmond | | | | May 25, 2007 | | | | Player Management International Media Release
Richmond, VA – Circuit City 250 The Busch Race started late because the Cup Qualifying ran late. When the race finally did go green it did not stay that way long as in the first 20 laps the caution flag flew 3 times. Mike started 26th and he was 23rd by the 3rd caution. The caution came out on lap 80 for a spin by the # 70 car. The #7 GEICO team called Mike in and he took 4 tires and fuel. They had a great stop and Mike went into the pits 22nd and came out 19th. The caution flag flew again on lap 87 when Jason Leffler got into the 73 and spun right in front of Mike. Mike made a great move to miss the wreck and came out 17. The race went green for a long run and the #7 GEICO Chevy lost a cylinder. The team tried to keep Mike out as long as they could but then on lap 221 the motor let go and the Mike parked the car. This was a tough finish for a team that looked early like they had a top ten race car.

Darlington, NC The #7 GEICO Chevy was starting the evening in the 31st position. Under the lights “the track too tough to tame”, earned its name and claimed a lot of race cars early. Mike and the #7 GEICO team worked real hard to get the car up through traffic. It was an up and down night for the team but when green came out with 13 to go Mike was in the 16th position. He got a great restart and was heading to the front and then the #6 got into the back of his car and Mike made a great save to keep the car from spinning. However the save cost him two positions. Just then the 99 got into the 77 and brought out the 10th caution. This caution led to a red flag while NASCAR cleaned off the track. Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Chevy came home in the 23rd position.
